I found the noise and think i found the oil pressure drop

Got the engine pulled finally! Upside down and took the main caps loose. Two broken bolts and center three main bosses are cracked. It looks like the center one might have gotten the oil gallery, I can't tell for sure. Bambi doesn't get all the blame, this time.

Deer strike catches up with me? Plenty O Questions!

I caught a couple deer last fall, one of which snapped my oil cooler. In which I pumped all two gallons on the ground. After bypassing the oil cooler and dumping two gallons in the pan, I had good oil pressure and drove it. Fast forward the last 10,00 miles. I've been watching the oil...

    Unassisted cold start record

This morning was -5F with sub zero all night. After sitting in at least 8F or less for 12 hours, turn the key, wait to start goes out, hit the starter and rattle ... rattle ... rattle ... rattle. At least one cylinder was unhappy with the duration of unburnt fuel, but the truck turned over...

Truck won't Start, batteries drain down over night

This was a thread in the 6.5 forum where I suggested a test but did not have any actual results to share. The test consists of using a test light to check for excessive current draw that could cause the batteries to drain down over night. This test would works on any vehicle, with or...

Best tool when working under the hood.

I needed to work on replacing the water pump gaskets this weekend. Since I'm still recovering from the broken leg, standing in the bumper holes or the plow mount isn't a real good idea. While walking around the H depot, I saw the painters platform. 29" high, 3' long and 1' wide, was...

I'm having problems keeping the oil filter adapter from leaking. I'm ready to replace the 3rd set of orings in 3 years. Both the large housing oring and the bolt oring are leaking. It leaks just enough to be irritating and leave small spots all over the driveway. Looking for idea's. I...

    Oil Cooler Fail

Noticed a new oil spot in the driveway yesterday morning, under the front bumper. (unusual location) After removing the grill, the oil cooler was wet and a pool of oil was in the bolt pocket of the core support. I started the truck, but saw no real leak. Went to the car wash to clean it...

    $#^%#$%&*$ Accessory drive pulley

Stated to hear a clanking sound at idle in the truck. It was louder with the A/C on, quieted down when it was idled up. A/C compressor pulley was loose and sounded rough,so it got replaced. The noise was better, but still there. I was able to turn the alternator pulley 1/3 to almost 1/2...

    -10AN Oil Cooler Hose Upgrade

Purchased a -10AN Oil Cooler Hose Upgrade from Leroy [Burning Oil] @ www.pmdcable.com. I had replaced the stock lines with stock line when the 6.2/6.5 hybrid went in. Two problems, cold oil pressure was +80psi and the hose crimps always would seep. Secondly, I worn a hole in the aluminum line...

    Made the Switch

Made the switch to Synthetic this weekend to Rotella T6 5/40. While fixing a couple leaks and installing oil cooler line kit from Leroy, I broke down and filled the crankcase with synthetic. I'll see what benefits come from the switch. Expectations are a slight improvement in mileage...

    It was a happy morning @ -7F

After sitting for 8 hours in 0F weather, this morning was a happy event when the truck started without being plugged in. Depending on the thermometer, it was between -15 (Accuweather), -7 (national weather service), or -3(the window thermometer) when I got up. In previous winters, 5F was...

    Its a Miracle !

Suspected the PMD was going down hill. Symptoms started last fall, with a little fishbiting with high idle. It died once or twice in the driveway. Then the Christmas present of a busted crank sidelined the PMD issue. While replacing the engine, the PMD and heat sink were moved to the...
