"Mud"was a problem on some gasser gm v8s,& blamed on mixing green antifreeze & dexcool amongst other things
.
I plugged up the block on a 70s 318 Plymouth, due it was believed to using a cheap non aluminum compatible antifreeze. It would overheat without much load. Regardless of what...
If you can find an auto parts store that sells ac delco stuff the tstat may be cheaper there than from a gm dealer. Only acdelco tstat offered here now in this neck of the woods is a 190. Could well be different elswhere.
I would suspect air intrusion between the lift pump & the fuel filter manager (Air getting in when vehicle sitting ,& fuel pump displacing air with fuel after a minutes running) .
If your at the mercy of a repair shop & cant do your own work , a gasser for the wife might be a sensible alternative
Fwiw, in the diagram I have for a 97 the" trigger "wire to the coil(closes switch in relay) comes from the pcm & is dark green /white .It connects to relay terminal B3 . Voltage there with key on?. The ground wire for the coil is black/white & connects to terminal A1..It grounds out on...
Pump running on for a few seconds after shut down confirms that the lift pump circuit through the ops is functioning.Residual oil pressure causes the run on . The ops circuit parallels the ecm/relay circuit .
Good to get some "hard" numbers on ATT equipped vehicles. Have to admit that fear of failing the test has been a real deterrent in considering an A team turbo. Could be mistaken, but Iirc the limit here in Ontario has gone from 40 to30. Realize that tuning can help the numbers when equipping...
In Ontario, for anything (Diesel) with a gvw rating over 4500 kg,the "snap " test is done, hooked up to the computer & sniffer in exhaust to measure opacity. No rollers involved. I was more than a little bit agitated the first time it was done (running up against the governors half a dozen...
Fwiw, mine had an opacity reading of around the 20 mark, due, it was realized later to a leaky cross over (poor turbo spool). There was no visible smoke to the naked eye . After replacing the crossover ,last 2 tests around 1%.
I also tend to err on the side of caution re filters & change the...
Try as much as possible, to keep fuel tank topped up, to act as much of a heat sink as possible , just in case there is some truth to Stanadynes fuel cooling theory.
Realized I was jumping the gun, however thinking about the damage that could ensue from the title the longer it is up there . Not championing Teds but from recent past threads feel they are a reputable company & will do as they say.
