we're willing to swap a C3500 14 bolts full float rear end on a 1997 K1500 6.5TD which is equiped with a 14 bols semi-float rear end.
Other than the 8 lugs instead of 6, is it just a plug & play swap, or does it involve mods and weldings?
Also, we heard about 6 lugs full float rear...
On a 6.5l, the rear main seal just slides over the rear of the crank, so it's an easy maintenance.
Though, as for the 6.2l (casting 660) it seems tess easy to do, as this seal is a 2 pieces one. Is it more difficult, I mean, should I care about something special?

If you have the opportunity to grab an engine, would you choose the 6.2l (casting 660) or 6.5l (casting 506)?
Also, would it be worth it putting the 6.5l HO oil pump on the 6.2l or is it just useless, even not good?

here are torque specs I gathered. May I ask you to have a look and confirm I collected well, especially on the "1 pass" specs? Looks something is odd about the 506 specs.
Main cap bolts:
1988-1996: blocks 929, 599, 141

I'm not very used in chevy gassers. though, I accepted to help a buddy who owns a 1998 K1500 with a 5.l Vortec engine.
The truck starts fine and purr like a kitten at iddle. Though, when driving, it starts to stumble a bit once we reach 2 000 rpms and the MIL comes on.

I remeber I have read a post explaining that you can install a K2500/3500 rear end on a k1500.
The k2500/3500 being 8 lugs, there is a kit which can transform them to a 6 lugs, adding rear disc brakes at the same time.

We're on the way to install a Ted's 6.2l in a 1997 K1500. Everything is going fine, but we forgot one thing: the 1997 K1500 uses high flow hoses which are bigger than the oil lines found on 6.2l and early 6.5ls...

Here is a picture of my oil pressure, idle hot. It then establish at 275 cruising hot, and is around 300 at cold when starting.
Nothing to compare with my previous optimizer which was settling at 275 hot idle and 400~410 cruising hot
