A guy asked for a conversion from his 1997 K1500 automatic to a manual trans.

He tried to have his 4L80E rebuilt locally and now has no OD and no rear. He is fedup and wants to go manual.

Other than mecanichal aspects, is there something we have to care about electronics/ECM?
 
You will have to change the ECM. Mine would not idle correctly until I changed it, plus it was in limp mode from trans codes.

Thanks Joe... I think I will convince the guy to have his 4L80E re-checked and repaired by the guy who rebuilt it. I'm not very interested in messing in a trans swap involving frankeinstening the truck. Or I heard about a manual truck for sale. Would be the easiest I bet...

No idea yet Jay, probably NV4500 if he insists for the swap
