I saw this today for the first time, and I love the way it looks and sounds. But I don't get it.. Did they make it IDI? Or does it's mechanical pump produce enough pressure for direct injection? If so then what is the point of IDI? I know people have talked about making a DI 6.5, but I don't...
Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I just read that Oshkosh has gotten the new Humvee replacement contract. What will come of the optimizer/P400 engine line? Will AMG keep supporting it?
Assuming a basic chevy 2500 4x4 truck, stock or minor upgrades, 32 or 33 inch tires, not unusually heavy, not towing. What rpm is the engine happiest at a steady 75 mph? Now assume you come to a moderate hillclimb - speed drops to 60, trans drops out of OD, what's the happy rpm now?
I think some block cracks and crank failures may be due to excessive injection advance. Do electronic 6.5's adjust injection timing based on engine sensor readings, ie, do they sense knock or should I say excessive knock? It seems like a fine line between normal detonation and damaging...
I visited Leroy diesel for the first time in a couple months, and see the site remodeling is finished. Congrats Leroy, it looks good!

This is news to me, new stanadyne 6.5l injectors. Are they bosch?

From what I can figure out, the good fel pro "Perma torque" head gaskets for the 6.5 are part numbers 9701PT for standard thickness, and 9521PT for +.010 thickness. I expect the good felpros to be blue, but 9701pt is a black, graphite color, while 9521pt is blue. Is 9701pt good, despite not...
Is there a concise summary of the strengths and weaknesses of the various engine codes and years? For example just based on what I can remember and probably mostly wrong, something like this..
VIN J: 82-93 6.2 NA heavy duty 3/4-1 ton, plus military. Advantages - good flowing non egr intake...
This NAPA battery was made in Nov 2004, and I put it in my RV in jan 05. It failed to start my 454 chevy rv yesterday for the first time in 9 1/2 years! Also I live in Scottsdale, where it is over 100° for 5 months every year. This is the longest battery life I have ever had; can anyone top it?
I emailed Penninsular last week but got no response, I'm hoping someone here knows.. They list 6.5 NA and 6.5 turbo heads. What is the difference, the pre cups? Are their heads GEP parts? Is it possible to buy GEP heads bare?
Does anyone have experience with the factory reman IP, part number 19209059? Gmpartsdirect has it for $811 with $70 core. Or is a new one for around $1200 a better bet?
Does anyone have a link to an oil passage diagram? I want to block off either the cooler passages or the filter passages, and instead run a single cooler/remote filter circuit.
I recall something odd about the 94 ds4 - something that requires a distinctly different IP part number for the affected models. Was it a problem with the earliest models? How do you identify the odd ones, and what are the solutions? I just bought a 94 6.5 blazer not running, so this is probably...
I want to do an emissions legal 6.5 NA engine swap into a 2 door s-10 blazer. The engine has to be newer than the body, and I want as new of a blazer as possible. I see 98-2000 blazers are cheap as dirt on craigslist right now!
I assume that running a factory turbo engine without the turbo...
How are the 1980's military db2's different (better?), specifically the 4520 to 4524 versions? Is it worth getting a core from ebay, or can pretty much any db2 be built to match any advantages they might have?
Not the damper, but the pulley mounted to the damper. It's weird how it has the 4 spokes with a big rubber washer filling the space behind the spokes. Anyone know why it's built like that? Is it for additional vibration damping on the accessory drive? ATI will make me a neutral-balanced damper...
What changed about the ecm starting in 96? Did it go to OBD 2? How much harder is it to re program the newer ones? I ask because the newer the engine, the better for emissions-legal swapping.
