I used Oilguard and I'm VERY happy. Mine has been on the truck for approx. 150,000 miles and I change my oil every 20,000 miles. I also have the dual remote extra large filters under the driver's seat. I broke into the turbo oil feed for pressure and returned the cleaned oil to the filler tube...
To give everyone as much info as possible, I've had the Walbro on there for years (at least 100,000 miles, I'll check) and I've put everything in the world in the tank (homemade BIO, WVO, Hydraulic oil, blah blah). I also ran it dry a million times because of the tank sock issue that took me...
Thanks, Warwagon. I don't think the electronics are bad, it makes plenty of noise. I'll bet it's just scored/worn out. I'll give Walbro a try after I open it up and see what's wrong.
My FRB-5 died only a couple of hundred yards from the house and I managed to get it restarted and limp home. I thought it had been sounding funny for a little while. Well I ordered a new one from Leroy and it was at my front door in under a week. BTW he was about $20 cheaper than EVERYONE...
Don't forget the CAT filters are synthetic media so they are MUCH more consistent in their filter media than a normal filter. I use an FRB5 with a CAT or Donaldson pre-filter and get double the flow (not a guess measured by myself) of the stock set-up
I love the place too. Unfortunately for us they don't supply the type of certification we need for accepting one of their calibrations so we have to re-cal their stuff when we get it in even though it's brand new. Aggravating
Well every single one I've ever seen had red as the negative. The OMEGA reference book agrees with this as well. We are talking about the wires and not the connectors, right?
I used a permacool dual filter head. Its not extra micron bypass filtering just puts 2 filters in parallel>>>>Schiker
I used the dual permacool as well
While we're on the subject, does anyone have the chart anymore with the PMD resistor values on it? I am trying to remeber the value of a # 10, just to make one and put it in my sig. for a little bit of Nerd fun.
I have a Spectra and one very important bitch I have is that there is no fuel baffle inside the tank. iirc the Dorman has one. If I were to do it over, I'd get the Dorman for that reason alone. The Spectra appeared very well made and plated and it was made in Canada.
