    Thanx

Thanx, to all who helped me with my troubles, and the and infinite wisdom possessed by all of you, for having the tenacity to put up with these infamous, PITA of an engine. The tension of not knowing what will happen next and my wife telling me the it has weird vibration or a strange noises...

    6.2 vs 454

No that's getting too heavy. I found a vid on you tube, the guy put a 4-53t in a '03 3/4 ton with the allison tranny. I think Phoenix casting and machining Inc. mite be a place to check out. Those little 4 bangers put out the power and some have jakes on them and are still lite enough to not...

A 6.5 has roots in with it's 2 cycle brethren

And just like that, it clears up. All I did was disconnect the plug on temp sensor start it shut it off plugged it back on, no hunt , Have started it 5 or 6 times since, stone cold no hunt, goes onto higher idle till warm then slows to idle. Strange quirks this thing has, guess it hasn't shown...

A 6.5 has roots in with it's 2 cycle brethren

It was +6 C yesterday morning, that's about 40F. and I've got it so that is hardly clacks but there's a hell of a bark at the other end. Following the all the advice on here I cleaned and or replaced what was necessary when I first got it two yrs ago and sealed the connections with...

A 6.5 has roots in with it's 2 cycle brethren

In the last couple of weeks the 6.5 has roots in with it's 2 cycle brethren. Cold starting this thing lately has me reminiscing of the old KW at the farm. The 6.5 is acting like the old 8-71 when the governor is "searching" for the right idle speed, and at this point in my life I don't need...

    Oil cooler lines

I found out yesterday that from the original owner that he had by-passed it when he damaged the original cooler lines when he was installing a second block heater, a year after he bought it. He said his wife had a 40k on it, and now it's about to roll over 300k. So I would assume if anything...

    6.2 vs 454

That's not factoring in the change in tire size. Match the drop in gear ratio with a taller tire size and still can run optimum RPM's for fuel milage. He should go to a 4-53T,or 4-71 and get the same power as the 454 and still get 30 mpg

    Oil cooler lines

Oils 35 yrs. ago were not as advanced as the full synthetics of now days that can take extreme heat that regular oils can't plus the diesel fuels now days are more refined and cleaner burning, and bearing manufactures are always making advances in design to make them last as long as possible...

    Oil cooler lines

I did. I've bin working on my '51 changing all of the U-joints and had an extra set on hand already. But thanx anyway. I would but this thing doesn't do any towing and no stop and go traffic at all, and plus I run nothing but full synthetic oils. Lucky is right, just last week a friend of...

Runs with no calibration resistor in PMD

My '95 ran without it, but it clacked pretty loud, and like AK said it coded. To be safe I installed a #5 in it and the sharp clack went away under acceleration.

    Oil cooler lines

Well I crawled underneath today and to my surprise this is what I found. What's wrong with this pic.? What I saw when I rolled it over! The source of the leak. Yes, that's the hole through the oil filter..... One of the 2 owners before me already had problems with the oil cooler...

    Oil cooler lines

I was fueling up at the station when it blew out, I noticed oil spray on the fresh snow behind the Tahoe. There was about a quart laying under the engine. Just before I shut it down the oil gauge was still pulsing. I'll drop the oil to see how much is left, I think the bearings will be ok, but...

    Oil cooler lines

Well the Tahoe spewed oil all over the ground as of 20 minutes ago coming from the oil filter and cooler line area, waiting for tow. I've spent that time looking for the remedy for this problem and can't find it using the search on this forum, can someone point me in the right direction.

What the Cr*p! cracking frames when plowing?

I completely agree. I'm convinced fish plating is the only way to go when modifying a truck to handle loads that could or can stress the frame in any way. Don't think that the engineers at the big three factored in all these things the frames would be as heavy as the heavy spec semi's. They...

    6.5 or 8.2

I didn't either until I found a few vid's guy's on YouTube that made this swap. I'm sure there is a 60's chev half ton 4X4 on there with a 3-53 with the jake breaks on it, cause he was having problems with them staying on until it killed the engine I think.

    6.5 or 8.2

Na, its like any two stroke engine (Dirt bikes) they don't make any power at the bottom end you have to keep them wound up to be in the power band. Sure the blower would suck up about 20% of the power at the top end. Some four stoke diesels are the same way M11 Cummaparts 4 ex. Found out...
