I saw this today for the first time, and I love the way it looks and sounds. But I don't get it.. Did they make it IDI? Or does it's mechanical pump produce enough pressure for direct injection? If so then what is the point of IDI? I know people have talked about making a DI 6.5, but I don't...
Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I just read that Oshkosh has gotten the new Humvee replacement contract. What will come of the optimizer/P400 engine line? Will AMG keep supporting it?
Assuming a basic chevy 2500 4x4 truck, stock or minor upgrades, 32 or 33 inch tires, not unusually heavy, not towing. What rpm is the engine happiest at a steady 75 mph? Now assume you come to a moderate hillclimb - speed drops to 60, trans drops out of OD, what's the happy rpm now?
You should plan on replacing the damper anyway. Get a factory GM damper, the Dorman ones are not as good. Any dents in the pan can be pushed out. If it sat outside, it could get water in the bores, so make sure it turns freely.
I think some block cracks and crank failures may be due to excessive injection advance. Do electronic 6.5's adjust injection timing based on engine sensor readings, ie, do they sense knock or should I say excessive knock? It seems like a fine line between normal detonation and damaging...
I visited Leroy diesel for the first time in a couple months, and see the site remodeling is finished. Congrats Leroy, it looks good!

Will, where can you buy a new db2 with hardened internals? The current production ds4 with hardened internals is DS4831-5521S, but I can't find new db2s.
This is news to me, new stanadyne 6.5l injectors. Are they bosch?

I brought this up because I bought a felpro complete gasket set, and it came with the dark gaskets. I just wonder if they are the good ones or if there is a better one.
From what I can figure out, the good fel pro "Perma torque" head gaskets for the 6.5 are part numbers 9701PT for standard thickness, and 9521PT for +.010 thickness. I expect the good felpros to be blue, but 9701pt is a black, graphite color, while 9521pt is blue. Is 9701pt good, despite not...
