How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Since they are still new, you might try a battery desulfator to maybe rejuvenate them. it's basically shock therapy for the battery, but it's unlikely they will recover. with the test results showing under 400 cca left in them, I would not try and crank it with them at all. any electronics like the trans controller will be at risk of damage not to mention hanging up the starter bendix where it welds the contacts in the solenoid. you will have a fubar starter on top of it all.

get another set of batteries and keep these to play with or hold on to them and try to warranty them out sometime before the warranty is out.
 
Im still upset it actually went out like that.
At the very least, the new alternator is more powerful than the old one (100AMPS). Vet discount came in clutch, still, hate how it came to this
 
Ive been spending the money for AGM, the price gets offset by longer life & I justify by offroading and never worry about stupid angles or putting the rig under water. But AGM prices been going up disproportionately to wet acid.

AC Delco batteries have never disappointed. They outlast any of the other factory batteries I know of.
Focus on the warranty because you will be replacing them again in a few years.

For autozone- google “autozone Devin McLean”. I’ll use them to warranty my stuff previously bought and when there is no other option.

On the alternator install- that list of cleaning contacts is critical. Only thing I saw not mentioned is a wire looked close to the wrapped part of your exhaust. Make sure wires are clear of it.

Belt sounds like it's loose, that will end up busting and leaving you. hows your gauge reading?

Currently sir. Volts are at 13.7 while idling and on the interstate.

It squeaks at start-up, though giving it a bit of throttle makes it go away

How can I resolve that? Voltage is stable
 
Check the belt wear if it's already tight. if the bottom of the belt is against the pulley then the belt V section is worn and needs to be replaced. not unless the pulley is not the right one and the V section is too wide made for a wider V belt. in that case you;ll need to swap the pulley from your old alternator.

eventually that squealing will destroy the belt.
 
what series belt (top width) are you running? some use the 70 series but the pulley on the new alternator might need a 90 series (old Napa part numbers top width sizes) for reference a Napa 7560 belt has a 7/16" top width and a 9560 has a 1/2" top width. both will fit around the same distance but one is wider than the other. I have a hunch that the pulley on the new alternator might have a wider belt grove and you possibly are running a narrower belt (factory for your rig) but the belt is sitting all the way down in the grove and the bottom is contacting the pulley causing it to slip under load.

on V belts they use the side walls on the V section for grip once they touch the bottom of the pulley they loose the ability to grip and begin to start slipping.

figuring out if it's the belt just worn or if it's a problem with the pulley, pull the belt off and turn it inside out. Now place the belt grove side onto the alternator pulley, look to see if you can see a gap between the bottom flat area of the belt and the pulley. Now do the same thing with the water pump pulley. is there a difference? this will show you real quick if the alternator pulley is wider in the grove. the belt will also noticeably sit further down into the grove if the pulley is wider. after you check this on both the alt and the WP, do the same thing with the pulley on the old alternator and compare.
 
When I changed it, the belt looked snug on the pulley, ill check again tomorrow if anything. I did not check the bottom, though it fit like before.

I should clarify, I only removed that one belt to replace the alternator, the belt was not changed, and the belt is relatively new, as it was replaced back in January

Your belt is a 7480. top width is 7/16" which is most likely what your rig calls for. the alternator you got is aftermarket. it's also well known that the auto parts stores carry most things nowadays as a "one size fits all" on a lot of parts. I question if the alternator you got has the correct size pulley.

one other thing to note: is the inside of the grove on that pulley also Chrome plated? that might also be a factor on the slippage under load. slick surface.
