Hey Guys,
My 1999 Suburban would not start this morning. The batteries are fairly new 5-6 months old and the motor turns over just like it always does (starter probably good too). I am getting fuel at the fuel filter and the oil pressure comes up while "cranking" it.
My fear is the IP, but it...
Can anyone give me feedback on old style vs new style fuel filter? I am hesitant to try the all-in-one plastic fuel filter.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Todd
had to use four wheel drive a few weeks ago and ever since then the front axles seemed to be locked like it was stil in 4 wheel dr. The lights on my selector switch did not work so I replaced the switch. When testing out the new switch I managed to get her stuck in 4 lo. I purchased an encoder...
After about 6 months, I am getting closer to getting my Suburban back in running condition!!
At this point, it will run without throwing any codes, but cuts off after a few seconds. I am thinking that it might be a fried PMD. I had some wiring issues that could have possibly fried the PMD...
After some wrenching, far above my comfort zone, I have taken care of two codes (P0251 & P0370). However, I now have code P0335 (Crankshaft Position Sensor).
I replaced the sensor with a dealer AC Delco one and had the same code. I convinced the dealer that I had a "bad" sensor and replaced it...
Please help, I am at my whit's end!!
This has been a 6-7 month ordeal. I am getting codes P0251 and P0370. The truck has no power (NONE whatsoever). It barely will come off idle.
I have performed the following to fix the problem.
1. checked all grounds, cleaned grounds and even replaced a...
I'm having issues with my suburban (Big Girl). I have been on the phone many times with Bill Heath from Heath Diesel. My next step is to get a high end scan tool to set the timing.
Does anyone in the Raleigh, NC area have a scan tool that I could use?
Thank you,
Todd
Does anyone know what size swaybar I have in my Burban? I need to replace the end link and thought I might as well replace the parts holding it to the frame (probably original). I am looking around to order them and find out there are two different sizes, 30mm and 32mm.
I don't have a caliper...
It appears the old girl has a leak in one or both of the heater hoses that run between the engine and firewall. I have rear heat in my '99 Suburban.
They need to be replaced. Any advice or tips?
I will not get a chance to crawl under the truck until Saturday, but I assume it is pretty straight...
My parents are stranded along I-95 in Lumberton, NC.
Does anyone know where/if I can get a water pump for a Cat C-7 in the Raleigh, NC area?
Thanks,
Todd
Today, my son started up the "Big Girl" and she ran for about a minute. I popped the hood to check the coolant level and she cut off and would not start again. I replaced the fuel pump solenoid and still no start. I replaced the fuel filter and still no start. My lift pump is working as I am...
Hey guys,
My aluminum tube going into the quick connect piece has disintegrated. I purchased a replacement piece that screws into the thermo housing (no quick connection any more).
I was wondering if I needed any kind of flow restrictor. I baby the old girl (340,000 miles) and would hate...
Replaced the radiator and the water pump and finally have no leaks, but I have a P0118 engine code. I replaced the temp control sending unit, but still have the code.
What am I missing? When I was working in the truck, I had the batteries disconnected for a while. Does that have anything to...
I was leaking coolant from the driver's side of the radiator. I thought it was a leaking petcock. I took it to the local radiator shop to have a look. He determined that it was a crack in the side tank. I pulled the radiator and took it to him to rebuild. For some reason, he could not get the...
It appears that my radiator is leaking at the petcock. It looks like I can just replace the petcock, but I cannot remove the plastic "plug".
Is there a trick to this?
Thanks,
Todd
Just wanted to give a special thanks to Quinten, aka qwomack!!
He spent several hours in the heat a couple of Saturdays ago getting the timing just right on my Suburban.
Truck is running great.
Thanks again,
Todd
I ordered the oil filter adapter o-ring kit from Leroy, and it should be here today.
Does anyone know what size wrench/socket that I need to remove/replace the bolts on the adapter?
Thanks,
Todd
Ok, my saga continues :mad2:
Dropped the burban off at the diesel mechanic to set the timing for the new IP that I installed and to fix the fuel leak. Mechanic removed the intake, now the security light is on and will not allow truck to start.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Todd
I just replaced the IP on the Burban and the timing is way off.
Is there anyone in the Raleigh, NC that has the proper tools (IP wrench and Tech tool) and know-how to do this?
Thanks,
Todd
