I saw that truck and thought about going to look at it, my big concern is that the starter issue may be a big can of worms that I don't want to open lol
If the upper intake hasn't been replaced with the updated unit and EGR tube you should consider doing it. Not a hard job, I did the lower intake gasket too while I was in there, glad I did because now I have no leaks, a clean motor and peace of mind. Also I would recommend you get the aluminum...
Sounds like classic FPR issue. It is located just up and to the left of the thermostat housing on the fuel rail, Has a vacuum line connected to it. A snap ring on top of the regulator holds it in then it pops out, put new one in with snap ring and your done. I would start the car first and pull...
I've been wondering the same since I have a 3800 series 2 in an Oldsmobile Intrigue. After my Duramax was totaled I've been driving the Olds everyday and have been picking away at all its small issues, I could get all 3 coils for under 100 bucks through the parts store but not sure if it's worth...
How long did it last before it started leaking? I bought a copper brass rad made by Spectra from Autozone and it started leaking after 5 months. It was leaking in more than one spot at the seem between the drivers side tank and core. Ridiculous!
I thought it wasn't too big a deal because of...
For comparison, here's the standard PowerBond balancer on my 6.2 The Performance version looks significantly different. Looking forward to hearing your results with it. I see they are both made in Australia, so glad it's not China. Dayco owns PowerBond IIRC
I put a PowerBond on my 6.2 just the standard replacement from Rock Auto. I'm happy with it. I saw the racing version at autozone where I work, could get it for like 275 but couldn't justify it. I sure was tempted though lol I'm interested in hearing what you think of it when you get it, AK.
It was on pretty tight but pulled off without a problem. I don't know what brand the old one was but I replaced it with a Dorman which went on smoothly lubed with oil and using a 4lb hammer and a block of wood. I get them most of the way on then use the bolt to draw the balancer in the rest of...
Maybe the 4l80 has them too but the 700r4 6.2 diesel combo for sure has them. My 84 has both trans braces and a transfer case brace to the bellhousing. I'm putting together my buddies 6.5 700r4 truck and he's missing one of the brackets.
Im looking for the bracket that bolts to the block behind the motor mount brackets which are used for bolting up the trans to bellhousing braces. I'll include a pic if my explanation doesn't make sense. I have the passenger side one but need the other side, I'll buy a set if I have to. Already...
That truck should have a nice, big radiator in it. 3 or 4 rows and probably copper/brass construction. I'm surprised there's no trans cooler unless it's been bypassed. Take the rad cap off and count the rows while you look inside with a flashlight if you want to know for sure.
I'm considering adding an external trans cooler to my 84, I want to go with the biggest cooler I can fit and there's plenty of room on my truck. I was going to bypass the radiator cooler to reduce the heat load on the radiator but that's a good point about keeping temps in check while not...
Also I looked up how to decode the casting date on the block, this engine has K203 cast on the pass. side bellhousing flange which translates to October 20, 1993
That would make it an early 1994 electronic motor, correct? I know none of this matters but I'm the curious type. The other side...
Here is the motor as of last night. It was your typical 6.5 all soaked in oil and grime an inch thick and made a mess while tearing it down. Went through cases of cleaner and shop towels and bags of oil dry lol My shed is still a mess but I do my best to work clean: I clean all bolts and threads...
That's a tool I'll have to buy. I have such a hard time installing front seals on these motors for some reason, always takes a long time of messing with it to get it seated straight... one time I destroyed the seal while trying to install it and had to order another one.
I don't, however have...
