My trip, the lil 6.2 that could!

Paul and Tim.....Probably 2 of the best guys you'd ever want to meet!

Paul in addition to being a mod here and at, the other "place" (back in the day), is one of the most generous, down to earth, give you the shirt off his back, kind of a guy. As if that wasn't enough, like all the Mods here who do a GREAT job, he's been known to go above and beyond the call of duty, Helping people/members who need a little "Sunshine" when things seem to be cloudy......He does a lot behind the scenes that keeps this place running, a true Humanitarian and his modesty tends to keep it quiet.......He's "Chock full of surprises" that guy!

Also, if you didn't already know it, you were in the presence of the 6.5 GURU, Tim has pretty much had a hand in a very many things that brought the 6.5 to where it is today. Tim is one of the ORIGINAL guys who has, "been there done that" in every sense of the word from the beginning of the forums and the start of the upgrade days, dolling out advise and helping people far and wide. Tim (Turbine Doc) and JD (gmctd) are probably the most knowledgeable people on this earth, when it comes to these 6.5 Dinosaurs......As I'm sure you saw from his rig, Not bad EHH?:hihi:

Your a lucky guy to have met both of these guys and enjoyed their hospitality and conversation.

I don't know what's worse, Bill, the humidity down along the Gulf Coast, or the fact it was hotter than hell on I-76 in Colorado yesterday! 108-113 degrees out all the way from Denver International Airport to Julesburg, Colorado. It was 108 at Hudson, then 111 at Wiggins and Ft. Morgan, 113 at Sterling and 109 at Julesburg! The Suburban held up like a trooper, the temp gauge went no higher than the dead middle tick mark between 185 and 210, or about 197* when the outside temp was 111-113. I had the cruise set to 76 MPH, but I also fought a 35-40 mph quartering head and side wind all the way back to Lincoln. Mileage out was 16.03 MPG, 525 miles traveled with about 45 of that in town and the rest on the highway. Haven't filled up yet to check return mileage, but guessing with the winds I dealt with that probably not quite 17 mpg. I definitely need a new IP and injectors, and a transmission rebuild, too. Not slipping yet, but starting to get those Powerglide type of ease into the next gear type of shifts.

Definitely will have the WELCOME mat out for you when you get here, Bill. You can plug in at my house and use the WiFi at the neighborhood cafe a 1/2 block away like I do (and am doing right now). We'll get that '98 nine blade fan of mine on your rig, too.

Tim kept telling me more fuel means more heat but I just didna get it.... With my 410 rear I need to drive 50-55 to keep her cool. Thats the secret, if The lil 6.2 gets warm all I have to do is drop back to 45 in third gear and she drops to 190 or lower.

The campground at Lake Foiuse State Park is in the boonies, no cell so no tablet service. I am having lunch in Victors Cafe, James Burke, the author of the book and movie about Dave Robicheaux a murder detective. Its title is The Electric Mist and the Confederate Dead. Great book and the movie star is Tommy Lee Jones! Cant go wrong there, Dave is a recovered alcoholic who marries a nun! Im telling u I love James Burkes books. Here r some pictures. The one of the bayou has a alligators nose sticking up, really its there, all I can do is qoute Troy Landry from Swamp People, SHOOT IM LISBETH!!!!! The one of the front flowers of a house is the Weeks Mansion, the owners r from Tx and r great people, they like pink flamingos! They r my totemat horse shows and campout trailrides! LOL Then there is the interior of Victors Cafe. Then just a shot of antebellum mansions on The Tech

He had a good ride the speedo is off it reads about 10 mph high once you get above 65mph indicated (error is on the speedo itself, as the speed in the PCM when doing official tests/data capture with scan tool matches GPS) so we used the GPS for the trill speed confirmation. I won't say how much +90 :) on a couple of sprints in there keeping up with Paul's Dmax on the secluded test strip we were doing burnouts on, both more than less on the plus side I'm capable of sustained 4300 rpm as Bill will testify. A good afternoon had by all talking Diesel "stuff" I hope you have as much fun on the rest of your trip Bill.

I didn't think he'd be there so soon...last we talked he said he may spend 5 days in New Iberia...

I didn't think there were 5 days worth of things to do there?(New Iberia)
 
Just heard from Bill, he's in Heaven now (i mean Texas). Just crossed the border.
He picked a great time to travel as its hotter than hell in heaven and the mosquitoes are out in force too! Were supossed to get alittle break from the heat this weekend.
 
I have an important desision to make, what to feed him when he gets here! We have great food around here.
So, Mexican fajitas, Chicken fried chicken, BBQ brisket/pork ribs....? Help me choose. Now im hungry!
 
Ok so heres a update. Paul I did not get to do the War Museum, parked the truck in the big parking lot n a mailman walked by n in galking with him he warned that my generator would not be on the back of my truck when I vot back so I, loaded back up in thd truck and haeded for New Iberia. I swear New Orleans has a horrible reputation for crime! LOL
