Just Ordered An HX40WII

I thought I'd give a quick update. For starter, thanks to Bruce (raceday) I have an adjustable wastegate controller coming for my turbo as well. I must say that Bruce is really a step above the rest, and just an all around great guy to deal with.
I've done some work on the turbo as well. After getting some recommendations from those with more experience than myself, I knife edged and cut down the divider between the two inlets of the turbine housing, seeing as our trucks aren't set up for the twin scroll design anyway. I was told this would cut down on turbulence entering the turbo. I also cut the v-band flange off the compressor. I did leave just a minimal lip there for added security, and then smoothed, and polished the hose mating surface. Here are a few pics.

Well, the mods ( well one of them ) didn't like the info I posted for the flange for the compressor hws, I was told supporting vendors wouldn't like it.... does ANY supporting vendor offer this flange here??? Maybe one is getting ready to who knows, now they see it so maybe one will take them and try and sell some ... then folks won't need to cut a compressor hsw just to get things to work....

Anyway, I done here, seems I don't follow some rules very well when someone asks for info I have, the rules don't want a answer other than a supporting vendor, even if they don't have a answer....

Couple questions:

Is that really gold in color, or is it just your camera? just curious.

Where is that turbo made? Apparently, it's the knock-offs that are in the $300 range and the genuine Holsets are in the $1000 range, right?

Chris, Some of what you posted conflicts with what Bruce (race day) provides and since he supports all of us with his vendor fees we had to remove the non supporting vendor link. If that other seller wanted to become a vendor here we'd be happy to have him. But right now the rules are that you can't promote them until they do. We think that's fair and I thought we had that understanding when you and I talked about it last spring. It's really no offense to you personally

The color is from the old fashion lighting in that room. Its not gold in color. This turbo was $260 to my door step, and yes the Holset turbos are much higher, but if I had the cash I would much rather have one.

I wondered what the "10" cast into the hws means for the cko turbo's ????
I know what it would mean if it was a true Holset, but I'm quite certain this turbine housing is far to large physically to be a 10cm housing. I don't think most of the #'s mean anything at all, and are just put there to make them look more authentic. :hihi:
By the way, I wasn't to happy about your post being deleted either, however they were nice enough to send it to me via PM when I asked. I do appreciate that info Chris, as it may come in very handy some day.

Where was yours made, Matt?

China, of course! :hihi: Here is the ebay link of the turbo I bought. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201044552770?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
However, if you read back in my post you will see that the specs they list for it, and the specs that I measured myself are very different. They really don't know what they are selling. :nono: However, this turbo should be a vast improvement over stock. I hope. You can rest assured I'll post my findings whether they're good, bad, or ugly. I also like that I have that awesome install kit coming from raceday, so if I do eventually replace this turbo with a true Holset, there will be no modifications necessary, just swap it in, and go. Thanks

Matt

I just got back from being out of town, and found my kit from raceday here waiting on me. :agreed: Its a first class looking kit. I threw some of the parts on the turbo for some pics. I can't stress enough what a high quality kit this is! I'm a bit tired, so I'll go into further detail tomorrow, but here are a few pics.

It will be a couple days before I can get my turbo installed, as I'm a little behind on my work at the shop right now, but it will be soon. In the meantime I thought I'd post up a few more pics, as everyone likes new turbo pics, and the chance to get a closer look at Bruce's kit.

That there is some mighty nice lookin' turbo porn you got...

That kit sure has come a long way since I first bought mine back when Bruce started making them.

X2! Looks like a very professionally put together kit.

Thanks and I most certainly would have to agree that this is a very well thought out kit with a focus on quality. I'm looking forward to reporting on the final fitment, as well as the results. I'm going to try to take a video of some wide open throttle runs tomorrow of how the truck performs currently, as well as watching my boost, and egt's. That way we will have something to compare against when the new turbo is in.
