Jay/Chris: Wondering if you could share your recommendation for exhaust heat/noise wrap. Sounds like it could be exactly what I'm looking for. (Couldn't find your project post on the site, sorry if I missed it.)
Here's the link.

Search the page for "TP" (as in transfer pump). Not sure if this is the same outfit Aces had in mind, as there's nada on there for $19. I see a whole end-cap-specific torque wrench for $86, and a "TP ADJ TOOL KIT" for a paltry...
Well, the 1990 R/V (Suburban) FSM shows all the wiring for the Stanadyne Model 80 rectangular type filter base, but the WIF connector uses three wires only. Verified same on the two '85 units I have at hand. Pink/Black is 12v+, Black is GND, and yellow is the indicator lead that goes to the...
Okay, so I just had almost identical probs getting any fuel past the pump after replacing both IP and injectors. I mean like, not even a cough from the motor no matter how long or fast I spun it, and barely a hint of fuel at the loosened injector line fittings down at the injectors. Plenty of...
Curious if anyone has made any headway on this. I finally got as far as removing the inlet cone to check the screen filter, and it appears that increasing the size of the inlet fitting wouldn't be particularly challenging.
However, given the comment above concerning the same exact fittings...
Wow, huge thanks. Hadn't yet considered that the 599 going into the '85 Burb would need a corresponding later model pan... grrr.
One more thing for the shopping list...
Hmm... being partway through paddling the same boat as you're getting into, here are a couple of thoughts:
Not if you can help it. You want keep all the meat you can in the block. Not to mention that oversize pistons will set you back 4 bills, and then you'll need some anodizing or ceramic...
Both my '85 3/4t 4x4 diesels came with them, as did the '90 3/4t 4x4. Just picked up a front bumper from a '90 gasser Sub, which has an abbreviated version, doesn't extend all the way out to the sides, and is also more of a "chin spoiler", sticks out forward at an angle, whereas the diesel...
I've now had three different 6.2's that I've taken from dino to B99 (B100 really, but labeled B99 for gummint purposes), with nothing but an extra fuel filter change or two along the way. No failed IPs, no failed mech fuel pumps, no injector probs, no rotted or softened lines. Some of the...
Heh... no kidding.
Awesome guess, NVW. Right on the money. It's a Drube stacker, and is used for exactly what you suggest... though usually it was used to stack the hay into those big old school wooden hay bins out in the pasture. Apparently there's quite an art to getting it just right, so...
Oh man... it would have hurt me to let go of something that had been in the family that long. Tres cool piece of hardware, that.
Kinda like this oddball unit... extra points if anyone actually knows what it is. Getting pretty close to a century old. Still sits at my cousin's ranch, would...
There's one on CL near me for $600. If someone wants it, I'd be happy to check it out and/or grab it for you.

I thought lifters and pushrods were among the lighter wear factor pieces in the 6.2/6.5. No?
Anyone have a favorite source for replacement lifters?
I've had very inconsistent results from the usual suspects (Sealed Power in particular), though mostly with gas engines. Would sure like some...
I like Eastwood's Stainless Steel paint for exhaust manifolds. Holds up for several years at least, but does show smudges from grease and such.
I'll be using it on the turbo compressor housing and crossover pipe soon, we'll see how it holds up there.
Weekend Update
Whelp... after ordering new rings and a bunch of other parts from Northern, I got a call from the machine shop telling me that the 6.5 pistons I dropped off were probably not quite up to snuff for another several hundred thousand mile go-round. Sooo... now I'm back to square...
I wouldn't bet any money on it.
If you have to buy a new pump anyway, why not? $85 plus shipping.
My 6.2NA certainly ran hot on grades and towing loads, even with a nice fresh radiator and fan clutch. Never overheated, but definitely flirted with the temp redline. If it hadn't...
Keep in mind that the Banks/Garrett has no wastegate and will develop somewhere around 10 psi boost max.
Which might be a good thing, given the lack of oil squirters, hardened pistons, and upgraded cooling.
In other 6.2 turbo news, replacement 6.2 pistons from Mahle do NOT have hard...
Just an added tidbit of info on the Peninsular HO pump... apparently there were two models available for the 6.2, both of which put out incrementally more flow than the original GM pump. The tooling for the higher flow of the two options was lost in the transition of manufacturing to Mexico...
