I am slowly but surely getting back into working on the diesel, and am trying to get any codes i can from it. I recently purchased a code reader that does both OBD-I and OBD-II. I cannot seem to get the scanner to read my Yukon though. I wanted to ask if my connector looks like everyone else's?
I have attached these pics, can somebody help me figure them out?
I think the line in pic 2 is supposed to be attached to the fubber boot in pic 1. Pic 3 is where they lead, but i am not 100% sure.......
What is the best gauge wire for the battery cables. Mine are not the best and i want to replace them, but want to do it the right way the first time. Also, what are the best connectors for the battery terminals and grounds?
Thanks!
ETA: The batteries are a matched set (about 5-6months old...
Here's my scenario. The yukon that i just acquired has been sitting for roughly a year withought being started. I am in the process of changing the flywheel so i can get it started (that was the problem when it was parked). Is the fuel in the tank still good, or is there an additive that would...
I have all the bolts out, but can't seem to get it to budge. Is there anything special i need to do to it to get it off? As much as i want to just muscle it off with a pry bar, i don't want to chance puncturing the oil pan of messing up another vital component.
How many shims, if any, does the starter need to ensure it doesn't grind the teeth of the flywheel?
I am currrently in the process of replacing the flywheel because of this same issue, and don't want to go through this hellacious ordeal again!
Thanks guys!
I have acquired a 94 Yukon that was made by Caterpillar Diesel (or so i have been told it was, plus it has one Cat's stickers on the tailgate). What are the differences, if any, between mine and a regular diesel that was built by GM?
Thanks!
I tried to do a search for this but couldn't find anything.....
Will the heads from a 2000 6.5 fit a 94 6.5? My buddy bought my truck and is going to fix it. We may have a donor motor out of a 2000 K3500, but we're not sure what can be swapped between the two. I'd appreciate any info...
Can the motor still run with out the turbo?
For those of you that have been following and answering my delima's (which I really appreciate by the way) I have a lifter/exhaust problem with my 6.5. If I pull the turbo off to get a better look at the passenger side manifold, am I going to cause...
I was talking to someone last night who suggested that, since I have a bad lifter in my 6.5, I should add about half a quart of ATF to my oil and run it for 15 minutes or so with some "rev therapy". He said that he had worked with a guy who did that for trucks with lifter problems and it cleared...
I use it in my Grand Am and in my wifes Blazer, and have seen a world of difference, so i'm definitely thinking about using it in the Sierra. Just curious if anyone else uses it.
How long is too long to leave the truck hooked up to the engine heater, or is there even a time limit? Just curious since its getting cold here and i'm new to the 6.5's.
Thanks guys!!!!
Somebody tell me about SSDIESEL SUPPLY please. They have what appears to be decent items on the 'bay, at what I consider decent prices, but how is the quality? Is it worth it? I've heard Heath Diesel is the best, but I can't find a website for them. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Howdy all,
I'm new here, and new to diesels as well. I just purchased a 94 GMC K2500LD with a 6.5TD under the hood. I bought it knowing that one of the lifters is bad, and with the idea of replacing it. Where can I get a decent set of lifters for this truck? The truck has 330,000 miles on it...
