Now that's dreamin'... Just need a check valve for intake. Draw air when no boost is present, and snaps shut when turbo spools up. How much back pressure does the GM offer with WG open?
We've really gone off topic from Suburban MPG to reworking of the turbo haven't we?
You know... there is an idea here. Once I post my how-I-did-my-turbo-master thread... I threaded the stock rod that came out of the actuator. The threading goes all the way down below the bottom of the vacuum actuator housing. It is possible to place two nuts below the housing to create a...
Ah ha... so the quested for 12 psi is way way too much for little ole me just pushin' the 'burb down the road... So, as long as I burn all the fuel in the cylinder, not smoke, I should be okay... weather at 8, 6 or even as little as 2 psi boost... I'm not pulling 26,000 lbs up at 27% grade...
Should you have an "F" engine VIN code, the only thing that your vacuum runs, is the turbo wastegate. It can be kind of a waste (no pun intended) for the serpentine belt to be spinning a pump, to create vacuum to hold a wastegate closed. Should you have a problem with the wastegate system and...
There was a TSB on the fan at start up. It does "roar" cold and taking off out of the driveway and then slows right down. Never got close to a roar, purr, or whimper out of it last night.
Although I didn't count all my blades to make sure all blades were present, I think that they are...
So, tonight was the bi-annual trip to the local inspection lane. Had to sit in line for between 30-40 minutes. It's 86°F while in line. About 15 minutes after being in line, I noticed the coolant temperature gauge rising. Hmm, okay... rev it up a bit for more GPM in the coolant system, and...
This is where I have a problem understanding this...backpressure... Ok.... IAT heat is generated by the inlet turbine or what? I understand heat is generated by compressing air, but if we are compressing air into the same volume (intake) and using the same CFM (lbs of air) into same...
So, finished fabricating the homemade turbo master on the 'burb. Thanks to all who created a thread for the DIY guys to home grow their own. Mine is kind of a hybrid between ideas... will post on that later....
So, got all the parts installed, and went to adjust. With boost gauge installed...
I second the rubber line idea... Bus 1 had rubber the whole way back to the ceiling evaporator... no problems with leaks. Oh, yeah... it's gotta be rated for AC too... don't use just any ole heater hose, the oil in the refrigerant system will eat it for lunch and trash the system.
Time now T+ 5hrs from snapping off of the quick connect fitting.... It only takes about 5 nano-ounces to snap one off... it can be accomplished by any handy 4 year old... if you need one, I can rent you my 4 year old for a nominal fee... Of course the clock did not stop for a few phone calls...
AC leak maybe in the lines that go under the passenger side to the rear AC evap. At least that where everyone else's I've ever known to leak.
If you have some time on your hands and want to bring her up to speed... That sounds like a tall order.
Well, once you have a BBQ'ed PMD, it's reliability falls right off. Just because it's being cooled now, doesn't really mean that it will be okay later. There are a few that have attempted to retorque the transistor nuts. (Very very carefully that is) and had some degree of success.
Not...
Well... okay, since the tread is getting thin... if I change up the tire size, how do I recalibrate speedo/odo? Will the tire folks do it? No fancy dancy computer talky tool to chat with on board stuff in my tool box.
Well, since Bus 2 will be finding a new home in the not to distant future... I moved the set of Optima batteries over too it from Bus 1 (slide out battery drawer, far, far away from the fire in the engine bay)
Since those puppies were pretty expensive, I thought, "hey I'm keepin' them...
... and tires and speedometer is accurate reading? You've got the same spec's I have with 3.73 rear... I'm thinking I've got some progress to make. 20 mpg sounds really, really good... you've got me salivating diesel fuel now...
