Compression Ignition Addict
Just so you know, a Cummins shop may not have the equipment to communicate with a Dodge product. Though the engine is a Cummins, it uses an ECM, wiring harness, and automotive electrical system built and installed by Chrysler. Cummins INSITE cannot communicate with a Dodge product. Chrysler uses the OBD2 connection. Cummins uses J1587 / J1708 or the J1939(in this case) Heavy Duty interface, and the associated INLINE adapter.
Find out what active and inactive codes are on the ECM first. Then start by checking the electrical wiring harness for things such as loose pins, corrosion and moisture. Autozone / Pepboys will pull codes for free, just make sure to tell them you just want the codes, not for them to diagnose the problem.
