What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Take the black wire and crimp a ring terminal to it and run it with one of the screws that hold the visor. just get the ring terminal between the headliner and the roof metal. Not unless there is a tab up in there you can shoot a self tapper in there for the ground. maybe even do a single ground behind the center cover and run that out to both visors.
 
Went out to the pick a part yard today with a friend. Came home with a replacement passenger seat for his burb along with a few other oddities. Scored these center caps for my truck! Just happened to walk up on a pickup and found these laying in the bed!! Paid a whole $30 for them.

The round one with the black emblem is off my 93. Just washed one up with some dish soap

My CKO provent started leaking pretty bad after the trip to the JY yesterday so I got fed up and ripped the whole thing out! Went to Home Depot and got a gallon paint can, some 1” fittings and a 10’ length of 1” clear hose and made my own oil catch can. Stuffed the gallon can full of stainless pot scrubbers and mounted it behind the driver’s side battery. It should be able to catch oil better than the CKO provent time will tell. I was just fed up with it leaking all over the frame and the fan shroud with the cap leaking!

The Jarritos Mandarin soda celebrates the end of this saga where an homeless person threw an unopened Jarritos through the rear window of my Honda while I was stopped at a red light. The bottle exploded in the car, drenching everything including the headliner, eventually cause it to sag. This happened about eight years ago. Nacho found shards of gas still in the door seals.

Well today I somehow lost power to the windows, radio, and one of the add-on gauges in the 93 when leaving work today! everything else still worked fine. drove home thinking a fuse had blown for the accessories. got home and before getting out of the truck, switched the key off and then back to the acc. still nada. seems everything that works off the acc side of the switch had lost power.

went inside, changed out of my uniform and grabbed my test light. went back out to the truck to check fuses and low n behold it all worked when I turned the key on!! jiggled wires around the lower part of the column, and checked the distribution block under the hood, but it all stayed on solid. windows working too! figure I'm about to have to replace the ignition switch.

There has been a couple of days here and there where when I go to leave work, I open the drivers door, key on and go to put the window down and it doesn't work until I start the truck. maybe it's been giving me that warning and I have not been listening LOL
 
The pickup/truck at my job.
Climb in, start the truck, no windows, no wipers.
Fasten seat belt, SB lamp goes out and that once in a while triggers the windows and wipers to function.
If after fastening the seat belt the wipers and windows still dont function, wiggle the mirror control button, that works every time.
The truck went in for a service at a local mechanic shop. I told them the problem, along with several other items.
Got the truck back and they must have fixed the ground or whatever it was causing the Ws and Ws to not function.
Told them I thought it was a grounding issue. 🤷😹
 
@dbrannon79 I’m wondering if, in a failed attempt at logic, the 93 thinks it is exacting some sort of revenge for your wondering which truck to part out. Watch for the 95 to start running better to take advantage of the 93’ gullibility/naivety and failed sense of solidarity. I swear these things have emotions….
 
There like dogs. give one too much attention and the other gets jealous!! the 95 has been parked under the tree with expired license plates mainly due to me getting burnt out of working and re-working the front suspension and steering, yet it still wanders all over the road LOL.

last time I had it at the alignment shop the guy mentioned to me that the front frame forks could be slightly bent causing issues. he had to max out both the camber and caster on one side just to get it close to spec. he could have put it up on his frame jig to check but I declined at the time over knowing how expensive that could get depending on what he found.

for whatever reason it eats idler arm brackets for lunch that causes some serious steering slop. I've gone though all the control arms replacing joints and bushings back in covid times only to be bitten in the arse for using chineesium parts. it needs that done all over again

Lately I've been pondering about pulling it out from under the trees and dropping the front suspension once again. going after poly control arm bushings. but then again I also had the dreaded thought that keeps haunting me that there might be some stress cracking in the frame in that area. might be a good idea to send it to a shop to have that checked first.
 
went to leave work this afternoon and once again while driving home the accessories go out. radio cuts off and windows no longer have power. pull into the driveway and start fiddling with the key. they come on for a split second and with the slightest movement of the key there back off.

confirmed bad switch. just then it dawns on me that I recall there was an ignition switch still in the box that I had found buried in the old floor shifter box that the po had made. I had pulled that shifter and box out and put the column shifter back together not long after I had gotten the truck on the road. went digging in the back shed for that floor shifter and lo-n-behold there was that switch! pulled it out and looked to see if it was new or an old one. sure enough it was a brand new switch even with the receipt purchased back in 2020 by the po.

looked up the part number online to verify it was for this year truck. then commenced dropping the column to replace it.

removing the old switch brought back memories of the need for small dexterous hands to get at that thing even with the column lowered. finally got it out being very careful not to disturb the linkage rods for it and the dimmer switch. one of the spade contact in the connector came out of the plastic but I managed to snap it back into place. got the switch installed and adjusted.

accessories now work find. hope it stays that way! looked at the old switch and realized it still had the GM numbers along with the year of 1993. it was the original switch on this rig! I bet I could clean out the contacts and make it like new again since it was made when parts actually would last. I will save on it, maybe one day it will come in handy :)
 
Adjusted the bypass regulator on the Air Dog lifting pump.
It was pumping on 9 pounds pressure. Give the regulator screw one full inwards turn and FP went to 15 pounds. Backed it down 1/2 a turn and it dropped to between 11 and 12 PSI at the pressure sender unit on the pump.
Flipped the switch to the IP side sender and it read just under 11 PSI.
Guess that should be safe enough.
