One last indicator of issues with the Instant Heat GP’s: the multimeter showed no resistance from the lead at #1 to the negative battery terminal (which I realize is actually reading all GP's in the line). With at least one GP shorted out to the block and the increased belching at start-up, I did not look further.
Thought about going the warrantee route, but there are other things which need my attention to keep the cash flowing rather than take-on a distraction. Even if I did get a few new GP’s under warrantee, would have to sell them, so I went the easy route of just replacing and not looking back.
And in running with the hypothetical of the GP controller as the issue, I bought one from SS at the same time I bought the Instant Heat GP’s last Summer, had them all installed together, and included a new PTwiring harness, so even more reason to skip the warrantee route and go directly to the circular file
