raced my truck...

LOL!

That's what my first 6.5 ran with 4" exhaust, turbomaster, WTA intercooler, and 'F' intake.

A chip and marine injectors dropped it into the 16 second range...

I always wanted to run mine to get a baseline before mods. Never got around to it, even though I live five minutes from NED. My truck is so strong now, I still dont think its fast but I bet it would have been in the 20s before I started adding things. My tune is coming soon, and I will definitely get it on the track then. Maybe I should try to get a baseline run tomorrow night before the tune comes...

If you don't mind me asking, which tune did you go with?

Whats the fastest a 6.5 has every run in the 1/4 mile?

track is ridiculously slick now, every speck of rubber washed off in the monsoons. Truckie, I went with the Kojo for the price and the personal customization (I told them I wanted to run 11s with perfumed bubbles blowing out the tailpipe;>) I am waiting for it to arrive now.
If I get a lot done tomorrow I may go run it tomorrow evening, but the place is going to be mobbed! Sposed to be near 90 degrees. I suspect I'll get kicked out after one run because they don't like black smoke. I'll need to get an elbow and a temporary stack to hook to the corner of the tailgate. But one run should be all I need, not much variance in an automatic truck with no traction problem. I can't imagine trying a 4wd launch, I just dont see it helping my tank. It's not like I can break traction on anything but wet ice.

Even with a boosted launch, you will only see 19's with a stock tune....maybe 18's....

Ask Cody ;) Im sure his Camaro with a 6.5 goes plenty fast.

I can get to 70mph in about 10 seconds, pulling 3rd gear out to about 85mph so I imagine mine would come in a little quicker and if I had 4.10s would be little faster. Maybe I'll get a stopwatch to measure 0-60 a little better than in my head.

You might be suprised if you power brake it.

I would be extremely surprised to spin 4 33 inch swampers in a 9000 lb truck. (Actually a lot less now, I've got the toolbox out of it) I'm sure a single rear wheel truck with no locker and street tread would have no problem spinning it, but I know mine won't do it. I don't spin very often when I'm plowing snow.

Well, doesn't look like I'll be able to run it at New England tonight, because I just got called to work the detail there. Although, if my truck is there anyway, maybe I can get my nephew to drive it for me, just to get a baseline. He's usually up there with his buddies.
Wonder if my truck will pass tech inspection... I can't think of anything they might fail it for.

well, that was disappointing. I had my nephew run it twice. He said it took off fine but at the other end it started breaking up and bucking bad. Ran a 19.7 at 61 mph. That was holding some boost at launch and WOT the whole way. It was ok (looked dreadfully slow on the track) until it got up to speed then fell on it's face. Second run he went easier on it, tried to keep the throttle off the stops but the same thing happened, a little slower time but several more mph trap speed- 20 at 66 mph. I wasn't sure if it was a shifting problem or a fuel starvation problem. The vssb is stock with 33 inch tires, so it tends to get confused at higher highway speed, but I've never seen it happen going this slow.
On the way home I jumped on it getting on the highway to try and recreate it, it happened at what I thought was at least 75 mph. It accelerated up the on ramp and out onto the highway really strong, then suddenly felt like it shut off. it was still running but didn't feel like it, it felt just like the engine cut out. Let off and it came back. So that felt like a fuel delivery/starvation problem. This sounds like a job for FTB and new vssb.
I was estimating it would run in the 18s, and I think it would have done at least an 18 if it didn't cut out like that.

Kid with a PSD with some work done to it was running high 16s all night, and guy with a CTD 24 valve was in the high 17s, I think it was stock except exhaust. So if my truck wasn't cutting out I wouldn't have been too far behind them.

My first run looked even more pitiful because it ran against an Opel Manta with a 400 SBC that ran a 9.2 at 149 mph.

Thats going to happen every time with the stock computer if you dont have a boost fooler.

And sounds like you are a good candidate for FTB and getting a better LP.

I have a boost fooler but I don't think it works. I put it in way back when I did the turbomaster, but it never seemed to work. Lift pump is pretty new, I got the stock one for a 93 as someone suggested, is supposed to be slightly better.

I now notice I have a rotted fuel line after the LP thats weeping a little, need to replace that. It's a line with a crimp, rubber, then crimp back to steel again. Is there a good reason for that or can I just replace it with rubber hose or steel line? If it's just for engine movement I'm not going to worry about it.
