My trip, the lil 6.2 that could!

Hey Don I like that idea!!!! No more subsistence disabiity!!! I like makin money n spending it!!!! Hey folks I lived n Pa with lake effect snow, rode motorcycles on the Susquehanna River in Md when it iced over!!! I can drive pardner.... I am a cowboy, if its got hair I can ride it, if its got a beat I can dance to it, if its got a wheel I can drive it!!!!! LOL

Update on The Lil 6.2.... She is sittin there rusting away n missing me!!!! LOL When I get home from visiting my parents I have to get someone to take me to get a saddle I found for my lady friend. Its a Circle Y softy trail saddle, used but in great shape n very comfortable. She wants to start riding the mountain trails n camping under the stars. What better person to drive me to get it than her using The Lil 6.2??? So the saddle is in Aynor SC, almost Myrtle Beach, so we r going to the Wild Wild West western tack shop n then on to eat at the beach! It will be a 150 mile or so round trip so my truck should get a good workout, some interstate, some country, some city. Cant let her sit, I am afraid something bad will happen with too much downtime.

Hear ya there. Never could figure out how things could break on the vehicles just sitting there in the Motor Pool, so once a week it was go down to the Motor Stables and exercise the equipment to keep it in shape. Never did have the main gun fall off of one of my tanks, did throw a track once in a blue moon when a new driver did something stupid in deep mud while traversing a side slope, but that's a whole 'nother story for a different time.

Hello friends! Well it appears Pauls, Paveltolz, truck and I are running neck and neck for who gets healed first! Dissapointing news......went to surgeon for 6 week checkup yesterday. This would be the best case senario to get the rods pulled out of my toes but they are not filled in with enough bone yet so go back in two weeks. Was looking forward to getting the rods out cause then I could go out on my Jazzy electric wheelchair, rods sticking out are considered a open wound so I am still stuck inside the house with no driving and no walking without crutches. When the rods are pulled I still cant walk or drive but boy to get outside n get dirty and work on my truck etc, I can do a lot from my wheelchair! Plus I can take a shower n clean that nasty lookin foot up, not allowed to get water etc anywhere near it! Hey but The Lil 6.2 went to Myrtle Beach GREAT! My lady friend drove it n I rode shotgun, her name is Susan n I declare shes gonna make a truck driving city lady ! LOL She didnt understand the attraction I have for The Lil 6.2 before but I think she likes my big dirty truck!!! The Lil 6.2 needs a bath bad! LOL Hey guys Susan is a heck of a girl! Yall know if ur wife etc would sleep with you if you hadnt washed ur feet in 6 weeks???? ROFLMAO

The news may be disapointing but he didn't give you 'bad news.' I think your two week progress report will be better than mine will though, and I really hope that it is. Trucks are "things" and even the definition of a noun places them last: People, Places & Things.

Be a good little buckaroo and do what the Doc tell you.

I don't take it as Bad news Bill..It's simply part of "doing it right"

follow the Doc's plan and you will be thankful you did...

will talk to you soon...

Hey wheres Don, Handcannon? He hasna posted to me for a while, do I need to check the Oregon newspapers to see the obits? LOL Where o where is my fellow disabled diesel smellin, sooty handed, friend?????

I'm here!! I've been muddy handed lately, busy outside in the yard a lot since the weather here has been so dry, sort of. Today the wind has been blowing the rain sideways though, so I've been setting here at the computer most of the day. As weather permits I have to prune the fruit trees, prune and train the raspberries, build a grape arbor for the new grapes I planted last year, prep the garden for this spring, etc.

I got a flower bed started between the southern neighbors pasture fence and the driveway. There's a bunch of bushes and flowering trees along that fence row that Mom planted there years ago, so I decided to expand it and make a place for daffodils, hyacinths, etc around the bases and in between the trees. I need to get it finished so the bulbs can be planted as we have some daffodils up close to six inches. Summer before last we had to move Mom's rosebushes so that the power pole could be replaced. Over the years trees had grown up so much that the roses didn't have enough sun any more. To finish that we dug up hundreds, if not thousands of bulbs. What kind they are I have no idea, maybe hyacinths and ? Mom has fifty years of flowers, roses, rhodies, azaleas, etc planted here. There's a camelia bush (tree actually, 15+ ft tall) that my wife just noticed is starting to bloom.

How's your foot doing now? I bet you're feeling a bit house bound right now. I sure got that feeling once I started to feel better after my accident. I hate going shopping with my wife, but for a while there I actually enjoyed it since it meant I was able to get out of the house. I wasn't in any condition to drive so I had to have a chauffeur.

Four years ago I came close to needing to have done what you did, only it would have been just one toe. When I was in the hospital I had one toe that turned about as dark a shade of purple as you can find. It was taking so long for it to return to normal that my Dr sent me to a specialist. Turns out that there is no cartilage left in the last joint next to the nail. I think it's from spending so much time working down on my knees on the floor while installing cabinets.

Well, got to go think about something for supper. One of my favorite lines is "when it's smokin' it's cookin' , when it's black it's done".

Hey Don good to know u r still cookin! Smokin ur cookin, I am gonna use that one. Just how far are you out in the country?

Well, if you take a sheet of typing paper, lay it out vertically, you need to put an X right smack dab in the middle, which is where I live. Then you need to draw a straight line from top to bottom of the paper just to the right of the X, which will be Interstate 5 freeway. Then, at the very top of the paper place a dot where I-5 runs off the paper, this is Salem, capitol for Oregon. Now, still following I-5, go down about half way between the X and the bottom edge of the paper and place a dot, this is Albany. Now, from the X draw a straight line to the right edge of the paper. About half way put a dot to represent Jefferson.

The very southern edge of Salem is just over 10 miles from me. Jefferson is 3 miles away. Albany is 5 miles to the very northern edge. I started to put down what I thought the populations were, but decided to look them up. Good thing I did as I must still be living back more than twenty years ago. My newest state map (seven years old) shows Salem as 146K population, Jefferson at 2.5K pop, and Albany at almost 45K. It's crazy, but I can still remember when the entering Albany sign showed 13.5K population.

By road I'm only about a mile from I-5, but I can look east from the house, through the trees, and see the traffic on the freeway, maybe just over a quarter mile away.

Don
