I finally decided to take few days off and work on my Ted's engine which was sitting in the crate till end of february.
I lost 2 days because of the rain (we're working outside, no garage) :mad2:

Finally, rain stop, and we opened the crate this morning and discover this :

The engine is unpaited, as I requested Margaret. I will paint it CAT yellow, or KOMATSU or Volvo yellow...

Then, I saw a nice sticker on the driver valve cover :hihi: Boy I like it!

And we opened it to check mains and swap the oil pan and found a "as new bottom engine"

Timing chain has almost no play, front and rear crankshaft seals are new, freeze plugs also

Tomorrow, I will finish installing waterpump and swap passenger valve cover, then time for paint ;)

pictures coming next :D

Good luck with the swap. It took me a couple of years to complete the swap, as I replaced everything under the hood. The truck is still nickle diming me, but runs awesome. Its parked now awaiting funds for ball joints and cutting out the cancer on ext cab rocker next week.

X2 on heck of a deal. Loving those Battery and glow wires and all of Leroys goodies as well.

I would look closely at the cylinders to see if it was run at all. If so I would recommend changing the rings to reduce blowby. Even the rebuilt 6.2 I got needed rings from improper break in. The 2nd ring was installed wrong or never broke in after 30K miles I put on it.

Lost half of the day today running plumber shops to solve a problem on oil cooler connectors. Luckily the mechanic check on the Blazer and found they have been modded, so we could solve before being in trouble with the old engine outside...

Though, I succeed in doing some painting job.

replaced the passenger valve cover, and had a quick look at rockers : I believe this engine is just about new..

Then, I had to mask all openings prior to paint :

Then the primer

And the 1st coat. Valve covers and second coat will be for saturday, back to office tomorrow :(

We spent an extra hour cleaning the engine bay, so it will be ready to go tomorrow, monday morning. We have to go fast. According to weather forecast, rain is expected during the next night, monday to tuesday....

Looks good and seems to be going fast. Just curious, what is the chain fall attached to?(above).
