Every year it is different. Usually the first snow falls in early September, which melts within 2-3 days. Permanent snow falls in the first week of October.

In Alaska they call that first snow like that “ Termination Dust “.
This morning the thermometer at the house was 34*F.
I fired up the free standing gas/log fireplace.

We get a winter here. It’s already cooling a bit. Next Sunday and Monday in-fact we will be 66-87. See how that’s cooling off?
I can admit that this last week at work there was a day I was excited to to work inside on a computer for a couple hours instead of catching sunshine rays…. Haha

Termination dust is what falls in the higher foothills reminding us that summer is over and winter is here. We don't really have much of a spring or fall
