Anybody know how to get the turnsignal lever off from the wiper switch in a 93 ?

I haven't taken one of this style columns apart recently. I looked in the service manual and I can't make sense of the directions and saw nothing about taking the lever off.Every steering column I have is tilt and could be different but bI wouldn't think it would be up to that point. The service manual has a special section just for the manual trans steering column. I'm getting tired right now but will give it a look first thing in the morning. I do have a manual trans column loose from the 93 I just junked. I could take it apart just to see how it works.

Can't speak specifically for a 93, but my 89's cruise stalk just pulled out.

There's a little "key" stamped in the end of the stalk that aligns it and a relief groove which holds it in:

It doesn't come out easy though. A sharp tug was nessesary for all the ones I pulled out.

Make sure you disconnect the cruise wires before yanking.

Make sure the turn signal "guts" are still in place first (ie: bolted inside the column).

I switched mine to a later model from a Caprice. Worked as per, had a better "feel" due to added "chunkiness" and it even still had lettering !

Yup, SFA. It's just a switch. No resistors, nothing fancy.

I took one apart to find out why they go south all the time. Turns out it's usually either the thin wires breaking off (from activating the turn signals) or plain old corrosion getting inside the switch itself.
 
So just yank straight out ? I don't even care if I break the wiper switch as it's shot anyway. Just don't want to ruin the stalk. I am hoping the stalk with cruise from the tilt column will plug into the non tilt column without cruise.
 
Yes, yanks straight out. A spring clip or ring retains it in the groove and the nub sticking out holds it from spinning all the way around.

Yup, yank it!

The cruise stalk will work fine in a non cruise switch IIRC.

All the stalk does is activate the turn signal mechanism and the "key" turns the wiper switch in the column. The cruse functions are not in the multifunction switch in either cruise or non cruise columns.
 
Turn the cruise control switch clockwise and it slides out easily. Yanking it out will damage the turn signal switch's plastic housing. When you turn it clockwise(opposite the direction of the wiper functions) that tang on the nd will ine up with the slot in the switch and slide right out. no need tro go yanking on it unless it is rusted in solid.

Yup, Ferms right.

I remeber rotating it a bit while pulling now.

"Yanking" might have been a poor choice of words and given you the wrong idea.

As I first said, you need to pull on it firmly and it usually doesn't come out easy.

I've never had one slide out easily.
