I have a friend with a 97 Dodge Cummins NV4500, and he added an OEM auto trans cooler, and rigged up a pump with a sealed impeller and a magnetic coupling (aka no shaft seals to fail and leak all the fluid out) and he says that is the only way he can keep the NV4500 cool.
I am running twin Gear Tech coolers on my 93 (currently down right now.
scuffed a cylinder) and it makes a good difference. The only worry I had with the FAST Coolers was the clearance with the front driveline, so I put the Gear Tech ones on the 4wd and am saving the FAST coolers for the 2wd. The Fast Coolers look to hold more oil, so maybe one on the RH side and a GT one on the left?

Hummm good to know. I think seeing the temps on this trip I just want a set of cooler pucks and call it a day. Well, the ol' dually did it. Scaled out just over 18k on the trip. 1,700 miles, 234 gallons of fuel.

I also think I used that same parking space at the army surplus store....

I swear... Everything I own is lifted! Now she just needs some bigger tires...
So I went on another trip, big group camping adventure. On the way there I was exiting the freeway and started to hear a hissing sound. Pulled over to check the truck and found one of my rigid dually valve extensions must have been hit by something and the valve stem snapped off the inner dual. So, out came the spare. I'm glad to have a matching size spare under the truck. Luckily the tire had just started loosing pressure and didn't take any damage. Let me tell you, jacking the truck up with the camper on was no feat, hence me taking some pressure off by use of the camper jacks.
After like 40mins, I was on my way. This year we had like 80 people, a tiki bar, DJ, a bunch of lighting and lasers, and a hot tub.... Who ever said you had to stop having fun?
We use the cargo trailer to haul a good portion of the equipment (all the AV stuff, a chest freezer, and food) and the hot tub/tiki bar was built on another trailer. On the way out I got some mad flex with the trailer.
And here is the shot of all my RV buddies.
Since the valve extension incident, I decided to switch to flexible extensions that have a bracket. Since there is nothing designed for my weld wheels, I had to come up with my own solution. Not the prettiest weld in the world, had to do it with the ol' stick welder.
And, I'm ready for the next adventure...

I was thinking it would have had to been more than a few days to take advantage of that camp setup. Looks like a big effort was put into a camp like that being off the main drag as it was.

Have you ever visited Crater Lake? In 2010 I came very close to making a big trip to your part of the country, but it just didn't happen. One of these days I am coming out there to that area.
It's on my list of places to visit along with Alaska, Maine and the Florida Keys.

When I retire I definitely have plans to have a lot more time to do what I want to do. Camp, Fish, Hunt, Travel and some days not strike a lick at anything if the mood hits me.
I think back about 25 years ago, I use to do a lot of camping, fishing and a lot more hunting. Even helped farm 500 acres of land, one 400 acre farm was the best in this area. Those farms are gone now, but I still help take care of over 200 acres.
Have not been fishing in years and I look back at the old days and wonder how I found time to just take off and go.
I know what changed. I got married, settled down, keep up the mowing on three different properties now and work on a public job.
Retirement looks better and better each day. Then I will have some fun again my friend.
