6.5L td 1995 Gmc Yukon

Leave the cap loose on the tank if you have emissions otherwise vent the cap.

Plugged fuel/return line possible also.

Take off the fuel cap, try starting. If that doesn't work, leave it off and remove the 1/4" return line off ip. Then try starting it. If it starts, shut it off fairly quick, you'll be spilling fuel on front of engine.

Does your fuel cap say diesel fuel only. A gas cap will give problems. You can remove the line feeding the lift pump and blow air back into the fuel tank, make sure the cap is off. This will either blow crud off the sock or the sock off the intake. Either is OK.

If you get the thing running I'll buy it for $600 :)

Sound like a nice one.
I would rig up a temp fuel supply using a 5 gallon can and LP. Plumb that to the FFM and see what you get. I ran veggie in mine and over time it plaqued (sp?) up the hard line from Lp to FFM. Had to blow it out.
I'm within 45 minutes of him if he needs to unload the Tahoe. I call first dibs

The veggie kit thats installed hasn't been used for a couple of years..all the problems occurred while running on diesel... I never got around to connecting the wiring back up...would i still setup an alternative fuel source to test if the sock is clogged...also i noticed when i removed the cap the was a hiss of air coming out ....oh after i did the lift pump test on the truck i went to replace my lift pump and the gas tank side let out alot of air...???
Depends on where and when the diesel was purchased and the ambient temperature when the Yukon quit running.

How are thyings going now that it has warmed up?

Still the same replaced glow plugs replaced lift pump replaced relay ....still working on it ..opened the fuel filter and when i crank fuel squirts out any pointers to what went wrong when i did the lift pump test cause prior to that it would at least run

Crack an injector line, just a 1/2 turn. Crank it to see if any fuel seeps out around the line. If not check for codes. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/6-5-diesel-technical-library.589/#post-111592

I'm thinking you may have code 13 which is the fuel shut off sol. In the under hood fuse block is a fuse, Fuel sol. or something like that. Pull the fuse and shine the spades up with sandpaper, you can do this first if you like before checking codes.

Jumper the lift pump and let it run. Cranking the engine to bleed things is extremely hard on your starter.

Run about 1/2 gallon of diesel out the drain T. Note the flow.

Pull the return line off the IP, run it to a container and turn the key to the run position - this should open the fuel shut off solenoid - you should get some fuel out the IP return.

Load test your batteries. Buy a load tester if you do not have one. They are fairly cheap and seem to be a necessity anymore.

If batteries are good. Now try to start.

If you get the Tahoe started, check for voltage at the lift pump plug to see if you're Oil Pressure Switch/OPS is putting out any volts.

If it is putting out any volts, do the dual lift pump relay upgrade - do not do it as shown in the schematics - do it plug and play like Leroydiesel.com makes his. Or just buy a kit from Leroy - you may have to ask for the prime feature if you order from Leroy - I don't know if I never got an answer as to whether that is automatically included in his kit or of you have to ask for it or if I just keep forgetting.

I also install a fused toggle switch on all of my diesels to run the lift pump whenever I desire. I like this better than a momentary switch as it frees up my hands when priming the fuel filter and doing diagnostics

Just an update finaly got to work on the truck and....IT LIVVVVEEESSSSS..lol ..thanks for all the help guys got it running last night have to test the OPS for voltage still but i jumped the lift pump and i guess the lines just needed a flush came out as a trickle at first and then it just started flowing.. let the lift pump run for a little and it fired right up been running good no stalls let it run for about 20 min drove around about so far so good...gonna run some test on that sensor and some othe wiring problems ive put off...thanks again for all the input

In this area it's common for the stations to have bio in already.

With the Yukon running test for voltage at the lift pump plug.

If you have voltage, just do the dual lift pump relay upgrade. It doesn't take much voltage to trigger the lift pump. I've got 2 that have been running with the relay upgrade for years with bad lift pumps.

If you have to change the OPS later, you aren't out anything.

Did you check your fuel cap for suction? Make sure you have a diesel fuel fill cap. The after market caps are all for gassers. They usually only have one number for gas or diesel and it's not the correct fuel cap.

You can pull the guts out of a gas cap with a pair of needle-nose to keep them from creating to much vacuum in your tank

Do not cut and splice as shown in the schematic on post #37. Make it plug and play like Leroy does. Or just buy Leroy's.

Source the trigger for the relay from the plug for the lift pump and return to the lift pump.

Does anybody have a link to male and female connectors for the lift pump on a 1993 to 1999 6.5 diesel? LP connector is a weatherpack 12015792 and uses a 12089188 female pin.
The harness conn. is 12010973 and uses a 12089040 male pin.

Can somebody fix post number 32. I must have been in LaLa land. I used lift pump where I should have said relay or OPS. And delete this post when done?

That post could now be confusing to somebody that didn't figure out what I was actually trying to saY

Ok no clue what happened was driving and the truck completely shut off it usually starts back up bit this time there was no notification lights on the dash no glow plug light, battery or check engine light ....nothing the tach lights were on but i was getting no response from the ignition ....i just replaced the master ignition harness swich and everything ...any ideas
