6.5 no fuel to injectors

I got it at nappa and well yesterday i was moving a camper being easy on it and the it died and the starter fried it self so i put another starter on and fired it back up sounded like it had a dead hole in it and smoked badly and got me home and died so well somtging went to shite so well i guess take two ill have to pull the motor and rebuild the other crate motor now so well idk what happen but i guess ill find out when i tear it apart again so nut my lucky truck abymore haha

Don't be in a hurry to pull an engine over something stupid simple. A compression test is a good start. Otherwise pop the valve covers off looking for the famous broken rocker retainer button.

One more thing: when your shit is broke it's best to call the hook and tow it home. AAA or other clubs including your cell phone offer cheap towing. Costs less than you $spent$ burning the starter up. Pushing it by driving a "broke" horse endangers you and drivers/pedestrians around you. Nevermind the additional damage than can be done. This "tow it" can save you money and additional grief.

One more thing: 30 seconds of cranking and then 2 min of cooling. The glow plugs are cold at 30 seconds anyway. 3 tries and you need to fix it because it likely ain't gonna start regardless. All additional cranking does is ruin HOPE and fry the starter.

Well the starter fried while it was going down the road Wire got loose apparntly and was arcking out it wasnt from me trying to crank it. 2nd i was three blocks from home on a small town country road late at night 3rd i use to work for a tow company for a long time so if i wanted to tow it i would have and when it comes to the motor im not a beggener mechenic!! And why not just pull the motor and put it on another block that i have sitting in the shop cuz i definatly dont want to do this a third time let alone have it happen 200 miles like im not aure what it is but the motor wont wven crank over now so well i guess 2nd time is a charm i guess and actually it cost me nothing when the starter burnt up just time to put one on

My dad retired is a mechanic and fleet manager. So I double down the advice. Seriously call a friend with a tow rope...

Nothing like pulling a rocker cover off an Olds V8 that was knocking and missing. The engine was sitting on the ground next to the car. Dad had already pulled the engine to replace it. I learned new words that day when I asked him about the busted rocker. I was 6.

These 6.5's are an entire new ballgame with specific things that drive people even in the in the military motor pool NUTS. Single use TTY head bolts and the prone to failure rocker buttons are just a couple specific to this engine. Just saying...

@Mycheal.booth, I would listen to @WarWagon's advice. The man has blown up, fried, melted, crippled, resurrected, rebuilt, reengineered, returboed, modified and performed Frankenstein experiments on more 6.5's/6.2's than any ten dealerships or diesel shops have in the past 25 years with the possible exceptions of Kennedy Diesel and Heath Diesel. Your problems could be the result of something as simple as putting (some of) the pushrods back in upside down (yes, that DOES make a difference in this engine) or a $3 nylon rocker button falling out or breaking, neither of which justifies pulling the engine and can be done over the fender. These engines defy a lot of "common wisdom" when compared to gassers.

Well guys forever ltr i got the motor pulled and it had spun the main bearings and took out a lifter so i am assuming the motor was on its way out before i did the top end. But none the leas i got the goodwrench crate motor i had sitting there together and put in and its been noticably better running only issue is a slight leaky injector i gotta fix.

Cylinders and webs looked fine by the eye and that was the thought if i ever had time and effort laying around to over build it but at the same time if i pull my 6.5 again i think a 12v would be in order

Curious as to the cost of the GM Goodwrench crate motor and if it has any "special" casts in the valley. Like the Navistar logo etc.

And lets see some Carnage Porn pics! :cigar:

MORE HARD CORE CARNAGE PORN!🤪😛o_O
Ill have to get photos of the damage butt i got the crate motor out of a parts truck that i picked up guy put in the crate motor the. Hit a deer and trans was loosing gears before so win win when i had to do the swap for motors only money i spent was gaskets just had to put all my stuff on as the crate was assmbled for pre 94 and mine is 98 ie i put all the elctronic injection pump and water pump and other stuff so time just to pull it and put it i
