5.7 diesel up and running

Absolutely.I hope it works out also will.I used new 3/8 fuel line hose as the supply.I’ll take a picture of the Delphi lift pump and the fittings I used tomorrow.I like the way it runs though.Much better than before.I have a digital fuel pressure gauge I plan to use to monitor pressure under load, etc.

Here’s more information on this lift pump and the fittings I chose to use in the lower two pictures.

Hey guys.I read online that 10psi is the limit for fuel pressure entering the DB2 and I’ve also read that up to 14psi is it’s very limit.Do you guys think at 9psi startup I’ll have a problem with timing becoming too advanced?Fuel pressure does decrease after maybe 15-20 minutes back to the 7.5psi range.Just wanted to gather everyone’s thoughts, etc. Many thanks as always.

It will advance the timing- but it won’t hurt anything.
If you want- get one of those dial type fuel pressure regulators for a carburetor.
They run about $25 now days. Usually they come with all three size fittings too.
The numbers on them say 1,2,3,4,5 but those aren’t exact.

I’ll certainly do that.Thank you will.Dbrannon also mentioned that as well awhile back.I was curious to find out first how the fuel pressure would turn out.

Today on eBay I found a nos vacuum regulator valve for the TH400 or any other vacuum modulated gm transmission. These are not easy to find.I figure it would be a good addition to go upon our 79 Chevy truck with the 5.7 diesel.Total cost was around the $200 mark.

Yesterday I put a new reproduction Chevy grille emblem in place and tomorrow I’ll go onward and see what else I can do with the truck.I have some new vevor brand running boards I got from Amazon that should look great and I also have an idea to install stainless mufflers, under the running boards with curved tips.I cut off the old exhaust a couple weeks ago with a reciprocating saw just ahead of the exhaust manifolds.More pictures to be uploaded soon.

I also picked up a water separator just to keep an eye out for any water that might try to sneak its way in.Total was only $54.I plan to mount this on the firewall tomorrow.
