Lets put 1995-1999 in perspective. You could not hardly steal a Yukon or Tahoe in 1997 let alone buy one. They were that hot and hard to come by. Dealers got what they asked for them. You had to have friends and $$$ in low places to obtain one.
Perhaps with being unable to keep up with demand GM let the 4 door 6.5 option slide. The 200HP TBI 350 gasser delivered trouble free operation and decent enough economy. Obsolete pushrod design capable of 1 million miles as some have taken their 350 there. Out HP but under torque the 6.5. The waterpump uneven flow flaw, and EGR failure was the only problems I had with the engine. Brakes and AC kept me busy though.
The 2 foot shorter makes the 4 door Yukon/Tahoe easier to park. The back seat is cramped. I like the back seat of a Trailblazer better than the Yukon back seat for comfort on long trips. My mom loved our 95 Yukon over a 94 Suburban. The Burb was just too long for her.
1995 was the 1st year for 4 Door.
6.5 Diesel was only a 2 Door option and dropped as well as the 2 Door options in 1997-1998.
Better question: Is Wikipedia correct with 6.5's in "2-door 4WD Tahoe only" (Tahoe meaning/including Yukon in context.) Was there a 2WD 6.5 2 door?
