4.3L blows tons of white smoke

Called the shop owner for the status, he has another donor engine with 89k miles on it. Pulled the pan and looked at the bottom side for anything that would spell trouble, put a high volume oil pump on, new water pump, new distributor, plug wires, spark plugs, and hopefully this will be a keeper....

I'll sell you the engine in my jimmy, its already got almost 200,000 trouble free miles and a new set of head gaskets.

On Edit.....200k almost trouble free miles.....my luck it would blow up in the drive way.....lol

well the shop owner came over last night because of fluids leaking on the garage floor. I don't think it was anything they did wrong but he replaced a seal on the back of the tranny. Hopefully this motor will be a keeper.....

motor didn't last 50 miles, they are putting a rebuilt one in....the drama continues

this will be the 3rd engine, the other two lasted barely 50 miles before it started to knock. They are blaming the radiator I supplied saying the oil line were blocked and this caused the demise of the 1st two motors. I bought another radiator, tested the old one and the new one and didn't find any issues. oil flowed through the cooler without any problems. It has costed them alot of money for this and some down time for my wife. They are sick of it as much as we are....

It is done already, but they broke the lower fan shroud so I am waiting for a replacement.

I drove it home last night. Still need to get a shroud but as long as it doesn't get too hot I should be fine.

Dont do like I did and put the fan shroud on at night and forget about one of those extendable magnetic pickup tools. When they get in a fight with the fan the radiator looses.

dang thing ran hot today....mech found out the water pump didn't have any gaskets on them....this is getting old

Did the shop rebuild it or did they buy a rebuilt and drop it in? I think you may need to find a better shop. If they bought this rebuilt like a jasper it should have a warrenty.

rebuilt was out of a wreck jimmy. Engine was rebuilt 20k miles ago according to the dealer.

I hope it wasnt one of those wrecks where the fan takes out the radiator and it sat there and ran for a while.
