I am trying to order some gaskets from my local auto parts retailer, but my truck is inaccessible until this weekend (at a friends- he is out of town).

To order gaskets for my front and rear differential, I need to know if the 94 K1500 "S" 6.5TD, auto trans, came with a 10 bolt or 14 bolt differential cover.

If anyone can send me that info, it would be great to order the gaskets today.

Thanks.

Jon

I just looked up my VIN sheet:

F44 -- CHASSIS, HEAVY DUTY
GT4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO
G80 -- AXLE REAR, LIMITED SLIP (POSITRACTION)

It looks like my question should have been: Does the 3.73 gear ratio differential have 10 bolts or 14?

Thanks.

4X4 1500 should have the 14 bolt 9.5" semi-floater. A 2WD 1500 with low gears could have came with a 10 bolt, or a 14 bolt semi-floater.

IMO it is better when in doubt to buy both and return the extra later. Your time is worth more than the couple of bucks for the gaskets.

Yeah- I can't get under the truck until Saturday, which is the day I want to do all the work (and the parts place needs at least one day in advance to order it).

Thanks for everyone's help. Based on your input, I expect that I do have the 14 bolt rear diff cover, but I also followed Pillow's advice and ordered both just in case.

Thanks!
