    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Front brake lines are done. It’s finally time to switch to engine work.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I hadn’t looked at the brake lines on the axle straight on from the rear until I looked at the picture I took. The right one was bothering me. Fixed.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

This weekend I got the small brackets mounted to the frame first. Next thing I got done was replace the rear wheel bearings and seals as well as the parking brake cables. I really debated about whether I should mess with the bearings or not, but ultimately decided I would regret it later if I...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

The Gabriel Max Control shocks I installed when I got the truck together rode nice, and were still working well, but they were already rusting……and I just couldn’t put rusty shocks on this chassis. I decided to go full gooch and put Bilstein shocks on this time. I know they’ll work well, but I...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Last night I got the chassis back down on all fours again. I reinstalled all crossmembers and brackets that had been preciously riveted with grade 8 7/16-14 bolts and distorted thread locknuts plus red Loctite. I had a heck of a time getting the torsion bar crossmember reinstalled on...

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

LMC does make a repro dash for that generation now. While not cheap, I've heard good reviews of them so far, and it will be less hassle than a full swap and the cost probably isn't that much different than getting everything needed to complete a swap...

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

Yeah, you can't really do just the dash harness, you have to do the underhood stuff as well because they changed how the harness routes between the 2 generations. The dash would be easy to clean once it's removed, but not sure you could clean the rest of it well enough to get the smell out.

88-94 to 95-98 dash swap worth the effort?

I've had both now. At first I didn't like the 88-94, but it has sort of grown on me. I still prefer the 95-98 design - I like the HVAC controls better and the radio location (if an aftermarket unit is installed in an 88-94) is better. I also think the plastic assembly of the 95-98 is more...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Yesterday I made good use of working from home and got the axle painted - 1 coat of Rust Seal before work, 1 coat of Rust Seal during lunch and then 1 coat of KBS Maxx after work.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

G80 is removed and Yukon limited slip is in its place. All new carrier and pinion bearings plus pinion seal of course. Backlash set at .006 with the original 3.73 gears. I’ll do the wheel bearings and seals after paint.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I was looking through past posts in this thread to see if I had replaced the rear wheel bearings already or not (I had not). I noticed this from way back in page 2. Part of me wants to laugh because I knew 5 years ago that I’d be doing what I’m doing today, but part of me is also proud to be...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Yesterday I got everything except the rear axle painted. Today I’ll be swapping bearings and the diff in the axle before getting it ready for paint.

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Wow, I haven't seen your name on here in a while, though I probably just missed you since I don't "hang out" in the other areas as much as I used to. I would like to fully box the frame, but that would require me re-engineering all of the crossmembers as well, and that isn't something I'm...

    2013 Escalade ESV w/ SLP TVS2300

The driver quarter panel is getting some rust coming through from the inside (the Rust Belt strikes again!!) so I get to do some rust repair on this vehicle sooner rather than later. I looked into buying a whole quarter panel from GM for $800+ and having that replaced professionally, but decided...

    1994 K3500 extended cab dually

I had last week off, so my plan was to sandblast the frame, then paint the frame and hopefully start reassembly. I didn’t expect to have to spend 30 hours just sandblasting, so that’s pretty much all I got done. It was a lot of pieces though, so I guess it makes sense. I spent about 20 hours...
