    Ford 555a Backhoe

Can't say I know anything about them, but it doesn't sound like they're out of line, and for the price, you wouldn't have to do much digging to pay for it. http://www.machinerytrader.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=7310269

    New MF Plant in Minnesota!!

That's fantastic. You don't see that kind of facility being put in the states much anymore. I didn't know Agco built Massey's and Challengers.

    Old iron

That was pretty ingenious of you. It must have worked pretty good. I pushed some steel posts in the ground with my skid loader a couple weeks ago and thought I was pretty clever doing that. I put in a quarter mile of them in less than two hours with a helper. Even at that there were probably a...

    Old iron

I'm chiming in kind of late here, but nice looking old dozer, and it looks like you took good care of it, too. Bet you hated to let it go, but that new ASV should help you get over it. I bought a D7E a few weeks ago for the same purposes as yours. I, too, knew Red's tool was a stacker. An...

Any thoughts on the Air Dog or Air Dog II

Enough broken 6.5 problems, how about a high mileage/dependable 6.5 thread?

The old '93 GMC now has 307,000. I bought it with 300,000. I put an alternator on it, which it didn't need, replaced a couple glow plugs, and installed new batteries. I have no way of knowing what was done before I got it. The previous owner put 50,000 on it and claims he didn't do much except...

My ~2 month adventure in Custom Harvesting

That's a good story, thanks for sharing it. Imagine, all the talk of no jobs, and you got one the week after you were laid off. Sounds like you got to run some pretty nice equipment, and had a good time, too. Way to go, and nice pics, too!

    New Goodies

Those look nice, have a beautiful finish, and should last a life time. I've never heard of Matco. Where did you get them? I don't know if I'd like the plastic end handle or not. Seems like it would get greasy and be hard to clean up. The rest of the wrench should clean up really nice.

    4x4 actuator upgrade

That was an excellent post (with the picture). Thanks. It takes my actuator between 10-11 seconds to engage. Is this about right?

    Alternator Charge Wire Reccommendations?

Here's a link to some FAQ on fusible links............. http://www.whiteproducts.com/fusible-faqs.shtml The catalog on the referenced link has fusible link wire from 22-8 ga. (plus some other cool connectors and stuff) John mentioned 8ga wire in his post above. They do not give any kind of...

    OT: Floor Jacks and Jackstands?

Definitely, definitely, not. I always put some wood blocking or something that won't crush before crawling under something. I don't trust jack stands, either, no matter how good they are.

    My new to me toy

Check this youtube out............ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zt9LDClcVg&feature=related I had no idea a tracked skid loader would go through muck like that. My wheeled skid loader would have been stuck in a heart beat.

    Newbie from NC

I moved from Waco, tx, back to central kansas a number of years ago, I think it was about 600 miles. Put my stuff in the boat, and back of the truck because I didn't want to pay for a cargo type rental truck. I tarped everything the best I could, but the wind destroyed the tarp and beat the hell...

Looking at a 6.5L truck, any input on it?

The mechanical fuel pump has a reputation for hard starts when the engine is warm. Don't know how many miles one should expect the pump to have before you start seeing the problem. My '93 has the problem, and I've more or less quit using it until it's fixed, as I just couldn't rely on it to...
