Hey all,

The new 06 will not adjust hot to cold, and I was curious which blend door actuator happened to control hot/ cold?

Is it the bottom one right over the transmission hump? I have my suspicions it is this one, but wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

and things get much more interesting, actuator is missing, shaft is broke off, and they have a ball valve handle installed with a screw. Fan. Tastic.

I wiggled some of their awesome wiring, and got the fan working at least...

Those things constantly go bad. You'll here a near non stop clicking when the do. Never saw anyone screw on a handle yet. Most people just unplug it and force it over with there hand. Can you show a pic of the handle- I love creative artwork!

The wiring is usually in the connectors themselves. Disconnect and flare the little tabs on the pins to fix it. No way they could have just stayed with the old style connectors that lasted for ever- too easy.

Why is it they have to redesign the wheel all the time and go from something that simply works to these situations.

I guess the next question: how hard is it to do a blend door in a GMT800?

Would I do better trying to glue on a new stub cut off another one?

Is it single zone or dual? In a dual zone system, the one over the hump is for the drivers side, and I think passenger side is over behind the airbag. The newer actuators default to full hot when the sensor circuit fails. It's the gmt-400's that I've had click.

dual zone.

Pass side A/C blows cold, drivers side door flops to the hot position, I need to try to jury rig (only the previously jury rigged door shaft...) it so its on cold.

I find it halarious (not the good kind) that GM can not use cables to operate heat & a/c vents, but they decided its the way to go to raise and lower windows and got rid of 2 metal bars in an X shape.

Both used to work great, now both are part of what turns people off GM trucks.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::dead:

Did Lee Iacocca have a kid we can get GM to hire?

They ALL do it now though, not just GM.

Yeah, but gm seems to have more problems with theirs, and never used to. My 77 srw3500 4 door had perfect working controls and windows with a couple hundred thousand + on it in 2001. My '99 srw3500 4door I bought to replace it needed regulators and blend door motors by 70k. Just stupid imo.

I watched a fleet in Vegas that had 50-55 trucks leave GM and go to Toyota because of the owner getting mad at constant window regulator problems. That fleet rotated out to new trucks every 5 years. The owner is from Mexico and has the old trucks shipped down there when they are done here and donated them to the various police departments as his way to help fight crime costs. Thats basically 1 new truck sale a month forever that GM lost out on, from 1 guy being fed up.

You haven't seen window regulator problems until you've worked for DODGE. When I started at a dealership in 99, low man on the totem got to do window regulators, and we did ALOT of them. Was not uncommon to see a car with 10K miles and 6 months old getting multiple regulators put in.

think I can use a good screw with a flatwasher to clamp a nut to the shaft, and then leave a ratchet and socket hanging down off the nut?

Right now, they have the screw only, trying to hold a handle, and that is not working well.
