I thought I would do a write-up on getting an extra 2 inches out of your truck without doing anything crazy.

All you need is this:

Factory GM Part Numbers:

4- #11588351 (1-Ton U-Bolts)
2- #15712451 (2 inch blocks)
2- #15592573 (Green Keys)

I chose to replace my shocks because mine were long overdue:

Bilstein Part Numbers:

2- F4-BE5-E381-TO (Cognito Motorsports GM K2500 Fronts)
2- F4-BE5-B514-HO (GM K1500 6" Lifted Rear Zinc Shocks)

Either way, if you have green keys, your shocks are what is limiting your front end right now. Loose the factory shocks or put the shock mount extenders and you will get alot more out of them.

Here is the difference:

So, the before:

And the after:
attachment.php

Here is how easy it is

You need the torsion key tool:

attachment.php

First jack up the front end so there is no weight on the keys
Use the torsion key tool to take the load off the keys
Back out your torsion key bolt
Slide the bolt retainer out through the side
Then unload the keys
Once you get the keys unloaded, just slide your trosion bars foward (they will slide out of keys)
Put the new keys in and revese this process

For the rear end:

attachment.php

Support the truck to the frame so the the suspension can droop
Put a floor jack under the pumkin

attachment.php

Unbolt your u-bolts
Let the rear axle down

attachment.php

Put the blocks in and your 1-ton u-bolts on

about how much did that cost you to do? I have already turned my tbars up 1.5 inches so I would be just doing the blocks in the rear so really I guess thats the cost I need

Overall project took me about 2 hours on a creeper in my garage:

Very happy with the way truck looks now

Just always remember to get truck alligned after all is said and done.

Overall cost:
Bilstein shocks: $400 w/shipping
Ubolts: $23.46 x 4= $93.84
Green Keys: $34.59 x 2= $69.18
Blocks: $27.22 x 2= $54.44

$217.46 w/o shocks
$617.46 w/ shocks

Damn, that's a pretty good difference, more than I though before seeing the bigger pics.

Nice work!

Nice work and a nice write up Phil. I also found it to be a bigger difference then I thought after seeing your pics. So the Bilstiens are the way to go huh?
