Perhaps the title is a bit dramatic....

Was on the way to the lake with about a 3000 lb trailer in tow - pulled out to pass someone on the highway and the truck made a wonderous racket and then died.

Pulled over to the side of the road and watched a waterfall of oil and coolant run out of the passenger side of the block just above the starter....

Gonna part this rig out and trade the Jetta in on a Duramax or Cummins....going truck shopping tomorrow

BTW - Dad's 97 6.5 came to the rescue and pulled my truck and the trailer together all the way back home.....*sigh*.....

I'm done with the 6.5....was fun while it lasted....

Oh that sucks Chris, I feel for you. Especially after all you've done to make that truck what you wanted.
I hate to admit I'm looking through your sig right now to see what I might scavenge;>

Bummer Chris,prob stuck a leg out.Shit happens.
Done with the 6.5 remark sounds like Aces, but he's back looking for an other 6.5.

Duramax and cummings arnt fool proof either.

Wife wants to see me in a late model truck....gonna need a 2500 for the work it will see on the farm - the 1500 was just a touch too light...

I still own a 6.2 and have a couple of 6.5's remaining in the fleet....new truck is gonna be a direct injected one though...

Gonna part this baby out....

Sorry about your situation Chris. It sucks having to spend money unexpected like that. Best of luck finding your next ride.

I'm gonna put dibbs on your exhaust...and PMD if you go that route.

Flatland fireball fizzed Chris?.........You run your rig hard, No chance in building a low comp powerplant?.......18 psi is pushin it, but you knew that.

Something tells me your ok with it.

Good Luck whatever route you go.

Dibbs on the TM......if it's not already spoken for.

Sorry to hear Chris. :frown5:

Good luck in whatever diesel you go with next.

Chris, you crazy bugger... after all the rompin' you and that truck went through, you blew it up with a 3000 lb trailer? Sigh.

NOW who is gonna be the 'Flatland Fireball'?

We need pictures, amigo!

The truck had been sounding a LOT louder than usual over the past couple of months....I just shrugged my shoulders and figured I would drive it till it blew up....that happened...LOL!

I had been hauling 2500 lbs of water in the back of the truck for the past couple of weeks off and on again for the sprayer....it had been driven hard and put away wet way too many times.....it didn't owe me anything....just frustrating to be stuck on the side of the highway.....

For the record - it was only making around 10 PSI when it blew up, it had 381 000 kms on it with next to nothing for blowby.

That sucks! I'm going to miss your high speed mods. Good thing we can search your past posts.

When you're ready to part her out I got dibs on the gauges/pod, rancho shocks, ho injectors, and possibly the f intake.

It's official....I am now rolling in an 07 Chev 2500 HD LMM DMAX LT! Extended cab, short box, 6 speed allison, white with grey interior....blah, blah...hate the payments but love the truck!

I have the 95 listed on kijiji saskatoon area to try and sell the whole thing as is...if that doesn't pan out, I will part the truck out to those of you interested in parts and then sell the remaining carcass to the local wrecker..

I dont blame ya for being done with the 6.5s, good trucks but it gets old blowing them up unexpected (for me anyhow) good luck with the new Chevy!

Wow. Well, I understand more than anyone. No predjudice against 6.5s either just wanted something with alot lower mileage and that is a rare find for a 6.5 plus Just wanted something newer. Curious what made you go with the Dmax over the Cummins ?
It was a tough decision for me. Both are excellent. I think in the end it was a s simple as a DMax truck would need a lift to clear a decent tire and the Dodge can clear 33's stock and 35's with a 200$ leveling kit.PLus I tried to imagine which truck would be easier to pull a head or oil pan on. Otherwise it was pretty much a draw for me. Was very close. It was actually someone we all know and respect here that actually steered me to the Cummins. I'll assume a tuner, DPF delete etc is already on order ??

Wow. That sounds like the exact same place mine was running a river. Right above the starter. Yep that sounds real familiar. Sorry to hear about your truck & good luck with your new ride.
