I don't think Tech2 (OBD-2) tool is compatible with tech 1 (OBD-1) setup, iirc totally different comupters in PCM chip vs. flashed, also "pin out" of OBD1 plug is different from OBD-2.

For vehicle grounds there should be a post I wrote years ago showing all the vehicle grounds, one of the critical ones is the one on pass side rear intake manifold stud, that is the gnd for the PCM at least in OBD-2 trucks, I would have to confirm in same location for OBD-1 but I believe it is same location.

I've read data on obd1s you have to have an adapter though

OBD-1 Adaptor was included with the kit I purchased and can be ordered separately from the company.

Do You have a link where You got Your scanner from ?
And the brand. I’m sure is the GM type of unit.

I ordered a replacement OBD2 connector off the Vetronix web page. https://www.vetronix.com/ currently $18 plus shipping.
You may need to call or email them as I just did a search on their page and, foot in mouth/keyboard, didn't see the OBD1. [email protected]
