ok.. i have another one for you guys.. your opinions have grown to be more valuable than the local diesel "specialist" shop.. yah right.. lol...
after diagnosing a failing PMD, ive ordered the beefed up Dtech.. should be here right after the weekend..
but..
1) most important, would a bad PMD throw an occassional 251 and 370? and instantanious loss of power, if i shut down, clear the codes.. power is back, no issues, till the next time.. codes popping up randomly, no pattern , but definatly and only when the PMD is hot, even with the engine cold
local guys are telling me yes, but those are the same guys that were lost when i was having the WIF and rattling/loose trans issues, its them that actually threw a rod bearing in my head and killed me back then.. but anyway...
2) upon further inspection, i found the conductive strip that leads to the small chip on the back of the #9 i had in there, broken, the connection seemed to be severed, im not sure if it snapped while removing, but i strongly doubt it.. it didnt even bend when i was taking it out, it actually slid/fell out fairly easy, the locking notch has been ground away, anyway, just for test, i re-installed it and the truck ran the same way so im falling back on that the value is stored, correct? or did it default to 1? anyway
3)that brings up another question.. considering the #9 is questionable, i just popped in a #7 i had, if the #9 is stored, or default #1 for that matter, how do i teach it the 7?
recently, surrounding all the issues i was having, the battery was being disconnected for hours at a time, even overnight on one occassion, to prevent an accidental remote start, if the value stored is the default #1.. it would be prefered to revive it with the correct and current value.. no?
