Howdy all,

I have the project of painting the F intake I will soon receive.

Any of you has already done this job? What kind of paint to use? anything special to prepare the intake?

Those who have a painted intake, could you post pics?

Thanks guys. ;)

There's a ceramic coating that looks almost like crome, i had a set of headers for my '69 Camaro done. NICE.

I'll have to find the pics got them somewhere, actually I got a lot of pics I need to load here I used to have at other site. Yes it's chrome looking, but can also be had in other colors, now that I've decided to keep ATT, it also will get ceramic coated.

Just clean it up real good with some degreaser are some good cleaning chemical then wash it off good. Use a good metal high temp primer and then a auto high temp paint and u should be fine. Make sure you post some pics when done.

you lucky guys. Nobody here can "ceramic coat" an intake. Closest place is Australia. Not worth the money :nonod:

Where there is a will there is a way, as luck would have it Jet Hot coatings in in my town, 1 of 3 Jet Hot shops in USA, want me to check into it for you? Would look good in same package with your ATT

The key thing with painting is primer just make sure you get one made for the material you are painting. Then just get a paint that goes good with primer. That is why i normally use the same brand primer and paint so I know they good together.

I'm lucky enough to have a Jet Hot near me, too! I did my exhaust manifolds - they told me I could expect a 40%-50% drop in skin temperature - WOW!

As far as painting, what about those home powder coating kits you can buy? I've seen them in Summit, maybe JCW, too. They're pretty inexpensive, but do they work?

If you dont mind me asking, How much did it cost to do your exhaust manifolds?
Thanks,

Thanks,

I'll see if I can find my receipt. It was somewhere around $200. But because it was for manifolds, I had upgraded to a higher temp rating. If I can find the receipt, I think it lists the base cost (which includes a temp rating that is way more than enough for an intake) plus the upgrade. IIRC, they also offer colors. Mine is silver (the normal color)

Cash, I looked and looked but couldn't find it. Sorry. At the most, it was somewhere in the low 200's, maybe mid. If you call them, they can give you a quote.
