Thanks for your reply,
They didnt use Julian date codes on the Dalton blocks, from what i can tell. On these blocks there is a code back passender side behind flex plate and front driver side below head
But i cant find a resource that explains the codes on the Dalton block

Welcome @ozark iirc the date code for the GM ones is like the one you posted in the 4th pic

This one...

Btw, when you are attaching photos, after you select them there is an option to use full image. use that to post them big like this one. it helps us folks like me who is blind in one eye and cant see from the other LOL

Foundry date is likely low on the list of focus items when evaluating the engine. Unless, the idea is to go cheap by just running the engine and seeing if it lasts.

One way or another, HMMWV pulled engines commonly saw a hard life. Even sitting for years in storage is not overly kind. Were it mine, I'd completely go through the engine to limit the opportunities for unplanned downtime. But, that's just me.

Yup. Some bone head told AM General & the military that 230,240f is ok for these engines and they blow through them like candy because of it.
Meanwhile everyone else that know 220f means PULL OVER NOW & let it cool off- the engines make it a long life.
There is other things to look at & consider.

I been dedicated to the 6.2/6.5 for more years than I care to admit. But unless you are adventurous & enjoy swapping engines: get that running on a test stand before dropping in.
