Been looking for a reg cab 4x4 5spd for awhile. Found a couple but they were either too far away or at the time the money was an issue. Initially the search was for a 94-95 truck. After Larry and Gertie's electrical/ tuning gremlins I have been looking for a 92-93 rig. Located one a couple of weeks ago and today we drove out to Ferrum Va to pick it up. The PO stated it had a minor head gasket issue but was otherwise in great shape. Stated it was totally driveable. Started up great- it was a cold start. No smoke on start up and no white smoke. All fluids looked ok and at proper level including the oil. After a brief test drive I was sold. Runs like no 6.5 I have driven and it appears to be all stock- it just flat halls!!! It drove fantastic on the way home. Temps stayed two bars below 210 the whole 3hr 180 mile drive. It has more power than Gertie with all the mods, pulled the mtns great. Left my wife in the dust and she was driving the new 2014 6.0l gasser! Cruise works, power windows and locks work as well. It does blow bubbles in the rad and after a 3hr drive the overflow which was empty at the start was 2/3s full. Top hose is firm and when you shut her down you can hear it gurgling. Clutch is super firm and she shifts nice. Appears to the original block and turbo. After the drive home she puffed once out the fill cap and then no blow by. PO brought the truckfrom Oregon and has 100% zero rust. She has 294k on the clock and runs like a swiss watch. The IP is recent from Oregon Fuel Injection (20-25k on the pump) and it looks like they did a timing chain when they did the pump. Plans are to remove parts from Gertie and sell Gertie with no motor. Going to fix the head gaskets and while she is apart install the ATT and a few other mods as well. Here is a pic! Will post more pics tomorrow!

Thats a sharp looking truck! I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress with it. While I like the ease of changing the programming on the DS4 trucks, the more PMD, as well as other problems I read about, I'm glad to be running a good ole DB2. Once again, Congrats.

In the garage is a 1969 C10 longbox fleetside. 305 with a turbo 350. Yes, I like GM boat anchors- the 305 was in a 1969 Nova I had previously and based on its dyno run the boat anchor makes 270-280 at the rear tires which is 350-360 at the crank (corrected to STP and driveline losses). She runs like stank. Love seeing peoples reaction when I pull into a cruise in and they asked based on sound is that a 383 or a 400 and say 305. There jaws hit the ground! BTW she sounds nasty... when the tires break loose you cannot hear the squall.. only see the smoke. Need a posi- will do the a legged peel to 65 or so!

Looks like a great truck in making, and yep those cables going to the ip are the best.
My guess is a '72 c20 with a 307 / 4 speed. Or maybe I miss mine, except mine was a blue GMC.

Thanks guys! I was excited when I found her... I have been looking for like 5yrs for the right truck. This is my first mechanical IP truck. After my electronic issues I am stoked to ditch the computer. I am an old school carburetor guy anyway! I also really miss rowing the gears... used to drive dumptrucks and a worked for VDOT a bit. Some more details. She has 3.73s, open rear, and is 8600gvw vin F truck. Appears to not even have had fender flairs originally as the current flares appear aftermarket. I also need to look into a paint job ASAP- before the surface rust gets any worse. Also need to rob a bumper from one soon to be departed members of the fleet! As promised here are some more pics.

Thats a fine looking 69! As far as the fender flares on your 93 go, I can't say for sure they're not aftermarket, but the look alot like the OE ones on my 93. Here is a pic.

Interesting. All the trucks I have seen were either body color or argent grey with a rough texture. Nice looking truck BTW!

Nice Looking 67-72! I love those year trucks followed by the gmt 400 trucks.

Started taking the 93 6.5 down today- I am not going to risk running on an obviously bad head gasket.

Here are my plans:
ATT with 3" DP and 4" Diamond Eye
2.5 Crossover, boost, and pyro
2000 Water pump, D Max fan, and HD Hayden Clutch from Gertie
Will add a fuel pressure gauge since I have a 3 gauge pillar pod
Will use the GMT 800 forged aluminum rims from the suburban currently on Gertie
Will be getting the truck painted the same color- love the color teal!
Will be getting the rear bumper and radio from an 88 GMC we have that is going to the scrapper
A bunch of smaller items like removing the camper brackets

My questions are as follows:
Should I run the Walbro from Gertie? Concerns are too much pressure for the DB2
Is feed the beast important- is the best answer to use a Ferd fitting on the back of the IP
Will I need to turn the pump up? If so is a 1/4 turn too much, what do you guys think?
Will the S&B air filter and box work with the ATT?
Any other mods for a DB2 truck? Still learning-this is my first mechanical IP
