Need more space in the nose. Kodiak/Topkick parts maybe?

Take a look at using the core support from the Kod/Top and with that the tilt forward should allow much more room.

This post is a little old but thought I would add this little bit of info,

The nose on these trucks is alot shorter than a standard pick-up. The firewall is cut into the cab area and the cab sits higher on the frame to allow the engine to sit farther back to clear the shorter nose.
 
Just drove the truck to the store.

Now I'm not so sure how fenders sticking out up front would look.....
I plan on trying this myself with an 82 nose. The fenders can be removed on this type so the hood would be the same width as the original clip on my 84 K30.

This is what I'd like to do with my 84 K30. The fenders can be removed on this type so it doesn't exceed the width of the the original front clip. Knowing GM, the filler panels behind the hood will more than likely bolt up to the cab where the original fenders meet the cab.
