Just got the truck a few weeks ago. Got a low coolant warning and opened the hood to check. Is this normal? The left side of the coolant bottle is empty but the right side is full...well low but not empty like the left. I started to fill it, it is painstakingly slow getting the left side to fill.

I don't have that style. My 97 is on firewall.

I'll assume it has some baffle inside or some type of screen at the bottom of the fill opening that is suppose to limit the blow out of hot coolant if you open it under pressure. It probably has an air hole at the top of chamber to allow fluid to push into the other side and air to escape. Something along those lines.

I think if you take it off, empty the reservoir, and clean out the fill chamber you'll see some crust or gum build up stopping an air vent hole or something.
