Yea i was planning on doing the 8.3l right from the get go but it seemed there was to many limitations for what i wanted in the finale product that the 8.3L just wouldn't work for.
Old plan:
300hp 8.3L 7spd-OD manual 6.72 gears 11.00R20 tires.
Issue #1:
the factory 275hp & 300hp 8.3's only reved to 2200 rpm max.
I could get the 250hp@2,400 rpm max unit the crank it up to 325hp but then i'm pushing 1000-1200TQ the 7spd-OD's Max is 660TQ.
Issue #2:
the 8.3L would only want to cruise about 2250rpm,so now your 66mph truck got slowed down to a 62mph@2250rpm truck.
Issue#3:
Tho the power would be great on the pavment the extra weight would Kill you off road in the Mud,sand and watery Mucky soft ground.
Issue#4:
The 8.3L can be had plenty around but they are much more expensive yo buy then the 5.9L.
So i found i could get the 250/500 275/550 300/600 Hp/Tq ratios much easier with a lot less weight using the 5.9L .
Now i was thinking i more than likely would have to deal with the 24V-5.9l which is electronic So would it be any more difficult to just go with a CR-5.9l or the newer 6.7L ?
both of which make the power i was looking for right out of the box so now mods need all parts are factory so parts n service should be simple and easy.
The beauty of the 5.9/6.7's is i can twist them up to 2,500 rpm needed to run 67-69mph. . .
