Keep The Tahoe or Buy the Burb ? I have to decide by tommorow

It's his step fathers and his stpe father is in the hospital alot and not using it anymore. Carfax shows an accident but he did tell me it got sideswiped.. Looked fine to me.

I LOVE my Tahoe, but if given a choice, I'd stick with the Burb. I have a very similar set of trucks - the Burb has 97K, the Tahoe is close to 180K, so it's pretty close to what you've got.

If I HAD to pick one, I'd keep the Burb. Why?

1) Everyone fits comfortably, and if you have more kids, they will fit as well.
2) It is a LOT better towing due to longer wheelbase
3) It has 75K less miles
4) It has F programming and no stupid EGR or low CFM intake manifold.
5) Better cooling system.
6) Newer, tighter.
7) AWESOME for road trips. It really really is. It can cruise all day long at speed without breaking a sweat. Getting one with around 100K miles is almost unheard of!
8) Massive storage capacity. You really can go camping with the family and have room for it all.
9) Not a big difference in fuel economy.
10) Two air bags. God forbid you ever use them, but hey, you have 2 now.
11) Something new to work on, that has a younger engine!

Yes, the Tahoe is loads and loads of fun, but if you can only keep 1 of them, get the burb. Put sway bars on, a decent set of tires, and a big exhaust, and you'll like it just fine.

Wow, and I thought you'd be the one vote to keep the Tahoe. A guy just emailed me from craigslist and said I'm nuts for selling the Tahoe for 6k He said it's worth more. I thought 6k was about what it's worth. Remember my Tahoe was a W/T model. It has stripped interior rubber mats etc. Only options are cruise(which I put in) a/c and power seats(which I put in)
 
Yes, the newer engines have the oil squirter blocks, and they probably aren't as strong as the 94-95 blocks, but you also have a lot fewer miles, and properly set up, you should be OK. Don't forget that Tim (Turbine Doc) also has a later model one IIRC, and he can outpull most of us around here.

It's a hard choice buddy. I admit, I hope I never have to sell the Tahoe. It really is a lot of fun. However, I'm still answering from the "If you could only have one" question you put.

I also think you can get more for the Tahoe. Remember, you only need ONE buyer for the Tahoe.

Actually I have 3 of them now, 2 in running vehicles, and a 3rd in the new engine waiting for time to be installed, I would not let this issue be a deal breaker, 4 doors are better than 2 if you have a family, for me burb is the better of the 2, novelty of the Tahoe is neat but for me in "family truckster mode" burb is more practical vehicle of the 2.
 
By the way, when I first purchased the burb, I live in Oregon, but purchased it off EBay from a guy in New Jersey. I flew the family 1-way to NJ, and then took a 1-month road trip across the middle of the USA. It was the burb's maiden voyage (at least for us) and it was spectacular.

It really depends on your needs. If you need a family rig, the burb can't be beat. If you are running around town all the time, and need something 'handier', then the Tahoe is the ticket.

Maybe your wife is like mine, she has a 2006 Tahoe and will not part with it for an older vehicle. I have been attempting to convince her to get a suburban with the 6.5TD but my luck has gotten me know place.

Kenny, go see you local financial institution ask them for the 7K and keep the Tahoe. Problem solved. If you then really want/need to sell the Tahoe do so and pay off the note......
 
They guy even painted the entire underneath of the truck with that rust preventer chassis paint. One weird thing, The skid plate is missing. That is the only issue I have. The fact that is has a cracked leaking windshield, missing skidplate and carfax shows an accident which the guy did tell me about but he said it side sideswiped RR quater. It looked fine to me. No waves perfect color match. Doors open and close fine but I thought I saw very slight evidence of primer on the inside lips of the front fenders by the hood hinges but that could be factory. It didn't look recent anyway. I mean really as long as there is no frame damage and the hit was done right , it doesn't matter if a vehichle was in an accident.

He doesn't have the title. They went to find it and realized it's lost so I'm giving him a deposit and he should have a duplicate in a week or so. Guess I'll do it. Thing that sucks is in CT I can go down to DMV with his father and no title and get it switched to my name but his father is in the hospital.
 
Course the part of this that sucks if wifey goes for it is now she'll be siphoning off my fuel stock, but it's a small price to pay to Keep the Tahoe.
