hi guys im Ulises
I live in Argentina and I drive one Sportvan 96.
My van is powered by a V8 naturally aspirated diesel. Here are a few trucks like this.
I am here to learn from your comments and experiences.
I have to first listen to suggestions, I read about the PDM. my truck is factory original and has 70,000 miles.
They know if I change timing chain?
I hope mail a Chilton Manual
You know if the 6.5L is in some machine work? agricultural, bobcat or something?
I want to upload a photo of my van, not how.
thanks in advance, sorry for my bad English
best regards

Welcome

"I hope mail a Chilton Manual"

Chilton = Waste of money! Get a real GM factory repair shop manual off Ebay.

Hay que cambiar la Cadena de Distribución según los manuales ? O no se cambia ?

For the non spanish speakers, I had my wife help me with the Spanish to ask him about the timing chain question, I didn't quite get his question. He is asking about changing the timing chain at suggested interval recommended by his manual.

Ulises: my opinion is no. Getting 100,000 miles out of the timing chain is easily done, up to 150,000. If you get an engine code that the timing can not be kept correct, then I would change it.
Otherwise, at around 125,000-150,000 miles you will need to put on a new waterpump. At that time I would do a new timing chain, water pump, front main seal, and harmonic balancer all at the same time.
Si no entiendes lo que escribi o necesitas mas ayudar en espanol, por favor hagamelo saber.

Makes sense Will, I got a timing code around 175,000 miles. That's when I got GMTDScantech and reset my timing. I now have 250,000 miles, timing isn't my problem now.

Thanks for your input
I wait then as my van has 70,000 miles
you travel to Argentina?
NVW
You scanned your engine?

No, I have never been to Argentina yet. Hopefully in next 5 years.
I think you should do a lot of reading about "mods" modifications for your van that will help it run more reliably and long term.
What injector pump is on your van, If it were in the U.S.A., it would be a ds4, but over there it could have a db2 as well.

Yes ulises, 1994-95 are OBD-1 and this program will work http://www.enghmotors.com/

On OBD-2 Carcode or Autoengenuity will work off your computer. You just need a cable to plug into the computer USB port and the vehicle ALDL connector.
