How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Stoney and I are about 300 miles north of NYC in the Southern Tier/ Finger Lakes region. I have a mechanic neighbor with some contacts in the NYC area, can see if he has any recommendations. Or the better option is get the heck outta NYC and come out to the country 🙃
I figured others who own Squares are from upstate or Long Island, im currently in Long Island sir, but do lmk about those recommendations.

I'm well aware these mechanics work on modern beamers, infinities, audis, etc. Not exactly trying to see someone destroy this thing because they don't know what theyre doing

If you don't mind us asking about your injury, what happened? hope your okay and heal fast.

as for getting an oil change done. don't know about any of the shops in your area, but do you have any friends or other folks near by that would assist for a nominal fee? you could pickup the oil and filter of your choosing and supervise a new mechanic in training! (neighbor kid who wants to learn)
I essentially lost consciousness while at my hotel in Cleveland, the VA ER took me in thankfully, but I was out of a commission for a few days after that. Got my mouth wired shut so thats fun, but due to that jaw fracture and misalignment, csnt exactly crawl under and do all I could, so now it got no choice but to find someone to do this

And another, I hope You dont mind question sessions.
How did Your jaw get fractured ?

Man keep that BP in check. as we get older we find out all the silly thing we did in our young age catches up with us. My wife has already been put on BP medication at the age of 45. I'm 46 working on 47 and hope I can stay off having to be taking meds for life like that. She constantly "forgets" to take it and then has an attach where her BP goes way up. we've had several visits to the ER and ER clinics for it. 9 times out of 10 her episodes happen on a weekend at night when she's at the point she can't handle it any longer.

Damn sir, im sorry to hear that, thats unfortunate to hear

Speaking of stress, this damn wire popped out and caused the alternator/voltage to just drop nearly leaving me stranded (thankfully a passerby gave me a jump).

What is that connector that is circled? I have access to another vehicle so ill he working on this tomorrow, i just cant have this wire pop out like that.

The one you circled is just a run of the mill female spade crimp connector, you can get them at any local auto parts or even at home depot in the electric isle. I assume that one wire is coming off the double connector on the side of the alt. that further up is an inline diode to prevent feedback. I don't think that is factory and was installed to stop a battery drain when the key is off.

one of those wires should be going into the gauge cluster to an idiot light and to the ignition switch for power. the other wire iirc goes direct to the battery.

Here is a simple diagram how yours is setup. I don't remember if your rig had a built in diode in the gauge cluster or not. might be why one was put there.

IIRC, that is a wire that excites the alternator into producing a charge.
That little round thing plugged into it I believe is a diode.
Without that diode, turn off the ignition switch and the alternator will continue producing voltage to the entire electrical system and the engine would continue to run just like the ignition switch is still turned on.
I have run into this before when converting old generator systems to the AC Delco alternators.
That wire also turns off the charge indicator lamp unless the alternator has failed, then the charge indicator lamp becomes ignited and burning brightly, partial charge, not so brightly. 😹😹😹
