How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

It’s all in the drag.
I had a buddy that lived here with a 1992 k2500 6.5. He replaced his bad turbo with a gm6. He has db2 ip. My 95 has gm6 and db2.
He runs 38X9 tires that measure at 36.75, my 37x12.50 tires are really 36.5 new and were worn down to 36.25” tall.
So we swapped tires for a couple weeks to see how the other ones feel and perform.
He lost 4 mpg. Mine, it made no difference.

But I noticed towing heavy and I don’t get any worse. I think the engine is nearly maxed on load efficiency.
12.5mpg if I drive moderately, 10.5 mpg with my foot on the floor (literally) from every stoplight until 5 over limit. Doing 70 mph hiway.

My gears are way worse than yours, 5.13 after everything.
My geared hubs (portals) eat a lot of mpg.
I never tried just doing 55mph. But many guys with hmmwv & hummer say slowing down from 65 to 55 adds 2-2.5 mpg. Your truck is slightly more aerodynamic than mine because of the sloped windshield, but your grille height is much bigger than mine plus your axles catch air mine doesn’t.
So I would think that wind resistance impacts you as bad as it does me.
At the end of the day, we all drive bricks
Its quite literally that. Bricks

The fact that we get the mileage we do is a damn miracle in itself, 454 bro gets 10 to the gallon, if not less

Updates:
Filled up when it was at E, pretty sure i got it as close to empty as I can withoutit shutting on me, since when filled it up, I could hear it fighting air in the lines (never again, but, I wanted to see what my mileage was)

Starting odometer at SD: 28608
Odometer when refueling in CO: 29058

Amount filled up: 32.424 gallons of fuel
Fuel tank capacity (allegedly): 31 Gallons

Lmk what you guys think of that fuel mileage

I use an app on my phone called fuelly to track my mileage along with tracking when it's time to do the oil changes. the app is free but I invested into the paid version for 7.99 a year. one of the perks on the paid version is getting to add it to my signature here in the forums.

my problem is a full tank will last me nearly an entire month for the amount I drive LOL. I only get maybe 6k to 8k miles a year between both trucks. splitting that between two trucks gets me one oil change a year on them HAHA.

You don't have to run the tank down to check mileage. Just fill.it the same every time and divide the.miles by the gallons

Something odd is happening.
Drove well, but Something is very off, audibly that is

I have no idea what that sound is, sounds like someone slapping sheet metal together

Drove well (literally made it on base just now) shifts good too, fuel economy good as always

I have no idea that noise is, but its making me very worried

Sirs,

We took the dust cover off, its not the flex plate, its the TC bolts, they were loose, though only barely, so they were only hitting the dust over, not the back of the block or anything

It is three bolts though on the fly wheel, not six
Is there the ability to install six bolts ?
If so the remove one bolt, get six new bolts the same size, length, head and hardness and run with all six.
