How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

The 1990 trucks and suburbans, blazers that were OBD1 throttle body injected, a lot of those had a tachometer.
IDK what it was that created signal for the tach ?
Maybe one of those dash or tach units could be made to work.
Might need the signal generator oil pump drive adapter to get signal for the tach.

Ive found a few clusters that exist that have a built in tachometer, theyre mainly for gassers (my boys 89 Suburban with the 454 BB has one)

Its just a matter of running the connection for it
 
The only luck I had so far, the Facebook groups were no luck, and other Diesel forums had no answers aswell, I even looked at old Squarebody forums that I came across aswell and no dice.

it definitely has no wastegate, and apparently when it's on OD, the boost PSI being that low is possible

Will say though, when i am not on OverDrive, i do see my boost jump towards 10 PSI, so there id that aswell, its only on OD where it stays low

Turbo on my truck runs at less than 5 PSI at highway speeds unless going upgrade.
If You are getting 10 PSI when not in OD then check the fuel mileage in OD and out of OD.
You might be better to run it in 3rd, or non OD just for the savings in fuel.
It would be nice to finally get an injection pump installed on this new engine, that would make it enough miles to get a good fuel mileage reading. 😡😹😹😹
 
Nopers. Unless someone used rubber lines for your transmission cooler.

They will tell you it doesn’t need to be hydraulic hose and they can make regular automotive hose usually. Tell them no thanks, that you want it zombie apocalypse proof for the next 40 years so the multi layer hydraulic hose. I get minimum two layers of steel inside with 3 layers of rubber and the rubber on the outside not steel on the outside. The outside steel braided fights wearing through the first layer better but is literally painful to work around.
 
A bit off topic.

I replaced all the lights in my dash, now I have a "Service Engine Soon" light thats on, along with my brake lights flashing repeatedly now, what could the SES Light even be for? Lmao did not expect it to even have it, but i do have an OBD1 Port20250713_193517.jpg
 
Do the paperclip trick and count the flashes
Yup, IIRC, looking at the ALDL connector, it will be the A and the B terminals.
Turn on the ignition switch to run.
Should be one flash followed by two flashes, for a cycle of three times, code 12 to let You know there is communication to the ECM.
Then count flashes after that. They will repeat thrice then move on.
It will start back at the first problem code read when it has gone through all the codes.
 
for a tach there should be a sensor atop of the engine behind the intake in the valley where on a gasser a distributor would go. that cam sensor provides an RPM signal to the PCM for the trans to shift. that is if you still have the factory trans. if you get a schematic for your truck it will tell you what pin on the back of the cluster would be for the tach. and if you were to purchase a factory optioned cluster that has a tach, it should work by just plugging it in. GM used the same harnesses in those years but depending on what options were installed, they used that particular cluster assy.

if you want an aftermarket tach. you could get signal from that cam sensor or get a pulse adapter and use a signal off your alternator. in later years GM used the signal from the alternator field coil to run the tach. on the newer GM rigs, that pulse adapter is built into the tach inside the cluster.
