Thanks for the greetings.
Yes I'm from Australia. I own my own shop and build and repair automatic transmissions for a living. My first introduction to tuning was after a rebuild on a GM 4L60E. The vehicle had been tuned with a mafless tune and the transmission died not long after. After I rebuilt it, it lasted about 30 klms. Rebuilt again, about twice the distance travelled. After dismantling, inspecting everything again and finding no reason, I contacted a local transmission tech service regarding the issue. Answer = 4L60E's and mafless tuning don't work. Couldn't get any more info from anyone else I contacted, other than some said couldn't be done, others it can be done. Conclusion = Requires adjustments in the TCM. Rebuit trans, had factory tune and maf re-installed. Road tested vehicle with pressure gauge and scan tool monitoring data. Had mafless configuration re-installed and immediately via pressure guage, saw reason for failures, no transmission line pressure rise. This was my introdution to re-mapping transmissions. Very steep learning curve. Since that time I have re-mapped multiple Allison 1000 series, 4L60E's, 4L80E's, 6R80's, 722.6 via factory ecu's, 4L80E, 722.6 and A442 via aftermarket ecu's.
